My first name's Christopher so I knew it would be popular (and pretty boring). Surprised though to see it was the 2nd rank name throughout the 70', 80's and 90's. It means Christ Bearer. Bow down to me ye heathens!!!

"John - God is gracious, merciful."

Well, he'll need to be with me! Spent much of the first half of the century as the first, second, third or fourth choice name. The 1990's saw it drop to 14th. place, I'm obviously as common as muck but getting less so as I age.

Re: How popular is your name?

You're quite right about the peak of popularity for your name in the 60's , Scott.....you're named after a puppet character in "Thunderbirds". In fact, if you wait a couple of weeks you'll be able to go and see yourself on the Big Screen when the piccy is released.

I feel sorry for all these guys called Jason....they're named after a TV character from the late 60's/early 70's called Jason King...trouble is, the series was suddenley taken off the air after the actor who played him was caught doing something naughty with another bloke in the gents bogs at Bristol docks. Thats why you won't find many Jasons over the age of 35 and none at all below the age of 30.

Re: How popular is your name?

No a football player that played for blackburn rovers in the 80`s. Think he was a right winger or midfielder.

Tealeaf 15-06-2004 10:49

Re: How popular is your name?

Thats when Blackburn would have been in the old third division....he did'nt come from Accy, did he by any chance?.....if so, some of this lot on here would want him in the Hall of Fame...
Is that why you play tennis? bored with footy? I'm not surprised, really.

Re: How popular is your name?

No i go to every blackburn game and i play more footy than tennis. Blackburn were in the old second division when he was there, when they kept missing out on promotion to the top flight. Dont think he was local.
