Crying at the TV
I find that most nights I cry at something on TV. During the Olympics I cried every time I saw the Union Jack being raised, I cry at repeats of Friends and Sex in the City, I cry buckets at documentaries like the one last week about Mandy. But nothing compares with the amount that I sobbed last night at the Jerry Springer programme, Who Do You Think You Are?
OMG, I was in floods. Did anyone else watch it and does anyone else cry at the TV so much? |
Re: Crying at the TV
I cry sometimes, but not that much, - but then my hormones stopped being rampant years ago :D

Re: Crying at the TV
I'm not one for crying at the television normally.
Last time I snivelled was when Nana died in The Royle Family. That was the best piece of television.....ever. :alright: |
Re: Crying at the TV
not one fer slobbering, occasionally but certainly not at telly.
|
Re: Crying at the TV
The only time I cry at TV is around Five to five on a Saturday, I cry with laughing when the Dingles have been dongled again:D

Re: Crying at the TV

Re: Crying at the TV
I just watched the Jerry Springer thing and found it very moving, especially the bit when he met a distant relative he had never known existed and the guy lives now in Israel. I know we read about and see TV programs about the Holocaust but when it's brought down to a personal level like that it is quite different.

Re: Crying at the TV
I cry at anything sad on TV. Am a proper softy. I cried tonight when Jay lost his dad. bless.

Re: Crying at the TV
Only ever cried once at the TV - when the result came through from Woking that meant we were back in the league after 44 years.
|
Re: Crying at the TV
I used to cry very rarely at tv programmes but since I've had kids I'm so much more emotional, I didn't see the Jerry Springer thing but cried as if I'd lost a family member when Wellhard was put to sleep last week, cried when Nana died from Royle family, went to see Mamma Mia cried quite a lot through that during certain scene's anything remotely emotional sets me off these days.

Re: Crying at the TV
I'm glad it's not just me. I've only really noticed it in the last year or so and I definitely think I'm getting worse.
A death on TV (no matter how tacky the programme) or a kiss or a wedding proposal and I'm mush. |

Never done it .... probably because I don't watch all that much tv, or maybe the only crying I can think of are the tears of frustration as I flip thro god knows how many channels only to find there is nothing I want to watch:mad:

I just think that crying is allowing the willing suspension of disbelief to go a tad too far. There's enough real pain and suffering in the world to cry over if one sees fit. Tears are too precious to waste on crap. |
Re: Crying at the TV

I cried at Pretty Woman the other night - I don't know how many times I've seen that film but I still blub - the thing is I've no idea why! Ghost always gets me too. I don't tend to watch a lot of telly but I read a lot, and often find myself welling up - especially by "misery memoirs" - no idea why I read them but that could be another thread! |
