There has been an appointments system in place since March, but the idiocy of it is they still have the ticket system in place. You can still go in, in the hope of being seen. So sometimes I make an appointment, get there 5 mins before the due time, as they say you should, to report to the desk, and I'm still waiting to be seen while people with tickets go before me! Madness. They should have publicised the appointments system more rigorously in the first place, and phased the ticket system out with in a couple of weeks. Even the counter staff think it's madness. By the way, they are open Saturday till about 1pm willow. :)

all the talk of unrest, riots is just garbage, i remember the introduction of the poll tax, tens of thousands were going to refuse to pay, what happened? a few pensioners did n were jailed fer it,n all the barrack room lawyers slunk away n paid up. whichever government is in power knows this, the only time the british public get off the pot is "War Time" so all governments will continue crapping on us all. its that simple.:(

I don't understand why you can't get Job Seekers Allowance because my ex boyfriend dropped out of University at the end of last year, has never worked 40hrs a week in this country, though worked for about 9 months in Vietnam and he has signed on ok and he's certainly never worked 40hrs.

Just been watching some American newspaper columnist called Irwin Seltzer on Sky News, commenting on the present economic situation in Britain. He summed it up perfectly when he said "the prime minister is peddling his persona, rather than any policies to deal with the current crisis and the Tories are just policy-lite." He pointed out that George Osbourne, the Shadow Chancellor, had said that there should be an alternative to nationalising the Bradford & Bingley. "If he has one, I wish he'd share it with us" was Mr Seltzer's somewhat acidic remark.

We're in a very worrying situation at the moment and the fact that both the government and opposition consist of a bunch of mediocre time-servers is going to cost us dear. Sod this, I'm off to the pub and footy to forget about it all for awhile.

I feel betrayed that this govenment sees fit to spend the money of normal working people to prop up B&B, therefor keeping Browns friends in the financial industry in Fat Cat Stree whilst we freeze to death.

the first things to be privatized should be Gas and Electric things that have a direct affect on all of us, every day.

To add insult to industry once they have B&B it seems likely that certain sections will be sold off to the Spanish!

Eon is German owned, Edf is french owned, and more energy companies are also likely to be forign owned, how exactly, do we nationalise gas and electric?

Re: Do You Feel Betrayed?

Well we do exactly as they did with the railways ans szy, on such a date we (the British Govt) are buying you out, here is your pitance now b****** off.
Simple?

Or more cost effective the government just starts a new, non profit making company owned by the people who subscribe to it and receive their energy at sensible prices. Within days eon etc would find they and their high prices were out of business

No, it isnt that simple polly, we dont have access to the gas supply to this country for starters, (be careful with the asterisks.. see rindy's thread), further to this, the last non profit service related set up the government got into was eaga, set up to distribute the free central heating and insulation grants, eaga were allowed to set up an installation branch and carry out a maximum of 20% of the work, they actually do more than 40% of it, and the company (owned by non profit making eaga) made 18 million profit last year.

One can be too careful in this life and that is often the reason things never get changed. Clearly your have missed out on the irony there based on the other thread.

Was eaga a registered not for profit company? If so it would have had rules about excessive profits being mad and not put back into the company.

Please explain what you mean about us not having access to the gas supply for this company, this is interesting
