What policies should a political party have?
Whilst checking out the policies of the political parties, I decided they really haven't got a clear and concise idea about what the general public really want from them. Neither did they seem to be too clear on how they really intend to put the Great back into Great Britain.
So my question is this. If you could choose a policy to suit the general public, what one policy would you have? |
Re: What policies should a political party have?
there is no one policy that will even make a dent in the mess this country is in mothernature, plus not one will suit the general public, all ya can aim to do is bring different things in that the public in the main will welcome, Law n Order, n Immigration, are just 2 that are minefields with all the do-gooders but they sure as hell need sorting.

Re: What policies should a political party have?
Don't think it matters that much anymore, as the majority of legislation that affects our lives is now decided in Brussels. The Lisbon Treaty will be forced through, despite Ireland voting against it, due to the inherently undemocratic nature of the EU, taking us one step further along the road to a federal Europe. Westminster is increasingly becoming an irrelevancy, so the policies decided there will matter less and less, as time goes by.

Ideologies are the problem with our political system.
Effective politics would be based on reality not ideologies |
Re: What policies should a political party have?
Well, I've been involved in politics since I was 16, and I'm now 62, and I think the answer is the same as how long is a piece of string. We have a three party system in this country (sorry 4 Wynonie:D) who all have different ideas on what is right and wrong for the country, that is what makes a dimocracy. The right think the left are wrong and the left think the right are wrong and nobody gives a stuff about the lib/dems:D especially when their leader thinks that the old age pension is £30 a week. Anyway one thing that I think most people in this country would suscribe to is get rid of the PC brigade and restore power to Westminster, but as Wynonie has said this isn't likely to happen, but we can always hope;)

Re: What policies should a political party have?
I'm so sick of how ineffective and pointless party politics are. A tyrade of spin and bull on the long journey to the bickering middle. Get rid of the parties, the dated and irrelevant beliefs from red and blue, and maybe we can get closer to obtaining a democracy.
Of course that will never happen (unless I can rustle some extra funds together to pull a successful version of Guido), so for the moment I'd rather not see the state act has it has over the past few months and nationalise businesses heading down the toilet. Socialist actions like that set a very bad precedent. |
Re: What policies should a political party have?
I don't know about picking one policy, but if I had to pick a word it would be 'responsibility'. So much more of it is needed in peoples lives. We have been almost encouraged to take no responsibility As if only the state and the individual exist. I should be able to go out and not fear attack, I should be able to be in my house without worrying about people damaging the car outside. What ever happened to society? There are huge arguments about who or what is to blame. What is important to me, is who has the right idea to fix our broken society?

A government that seizes the assets of all the lying, thieving bankers and mortgage brokers that made a fortune out of the working classes then walked away and left us in the mire.:hidewall:

I wonder what Less would have to say on the subject?

Re: What policies should a political party have?
The main two areas that need addressing IMO are crime and immigration. On the crime front we need to see judges giving sentences that reflect the crime. People are fed up of criminals being given a slap on the wrist. So handing out suitable punishments needs sorting.
We can't keep letting people enter the country, it needs somebody strong enough to say enough is enough. Whilst immigration continues as it is our health services and education systems are going to carry on being overstretched. |
Re: What policies should a political party have?
I reckon the whole stucture of political party politics has become whatever is in fashion to get voters on your side.....people need to concentrate on the real issues concerning.. real people...examples are costs of everyday goods..mortgage rates and rent increases..the people need to know specific policies that anyone attempting to take power in terms of the financial and economic situation..tell us what your policy is and then we can all decide what which of you we want..
It is getting out of hand.. like.. just been to the offie and it was £5 for 6 cans of Guinness last week .. now it's £1 a can! no dicount! so 6 cans of Guinness now cost £6!..were will it end? |
