Sickened
I shouldn't need to mention it but whilst people are squabbling over NHS drugs and access to ambulances a much greater flaw in the system which echoes the terrible story of Victoria Climbie should be brought to your attention. I'll let you read for yourselves and comment because I am simply lost for words at how the law can be made so adequate to deal with child abuse since various landmark trials and yet social services and various other health authorities are still failing children as we speak.
After 17 months of unimaginable cruelty, Baby P finally succumbed - Times Online This led to an argument in House of Commons in which I think personally saw a side of Gordon Brown which lacked empathy and was more interested in protecting his party rather than seeking justice for such a young lost life. YouTube - PMQs 12th November 2008 I've read cases of child abuse before, they aren't shocking for me to read anymore as I've had to read allsorts of horrible cases as a law student, but the shock is that it was just handled so badly and that child was repeatedly sent back into that household after repeated visits to the doctors and even after people had expressed their concerns. I am just lost for words really. I find it most sad that that kind of treatment would have been normal to that child and love and affection would have been so alien to it. How anyone can do anything so cruel day after day and feel no remorse at all is just beyond me. |
How can this keep happening?
Might have overlooked this but cant find it on here
How on earth can this sort of thing keep happening to children, I was appaulled to hear on the news justt what this poor poor child went through BBC NEWS | England | London | Baby death sparks Haringey review Baby death sparks Haringey review |
Re: Sickened
Every case of child abuse shocks me, Blazey. This one made me cry with anger, and sorrow for that poor little boy, when I heard about it. Everyone let him down, especially Social Services, and he knew nothing but pain and misery in his very brief little life.
Those swines broke the baby's back and it's a crime that screams to Heaven for vengeance and justice. If it were in my power I'd have the same done to them but all that will happen is a few years in prison for the perpetrators and a bit of tut-tutting for the Social Services. Is that how much we value a little child's life? |
Re: How can this keep happening?
turned me stomach will never understand, also sickening was how "Cameron" tried to make political capital out of it in Parliment.

Re: Sickened
I’m surprised that it has taken this long for a thread to be started about this horrific case of child abuse. More outrage was shown about the bloke getting sent down at Accy Magistrates for staging or taking part in dog fighting. A sickening case in itself but no comparison to the abuse this 17month old infant endured.
I watched PM Questions at noon today, Brown looked the worst of a bad bunch. |
Re: How can this keep happening?
Once again the Social Services are about as much use as a chocolate fire guard. But think the doctors have got to share the blame for not picking up om the childs injuries:mad:

I don't find these cases make me angry, I just find I feel very helpless and unfortunately for me, killing the person that commit those crimes would not make me feel any better. If anything I'd only feel worse. But that isn't really the debate and I think people should keep the anger to themselves and leave messages of love for the child instead. |

This interjection brought an immediate response from Ed Balls. Can that be wrong? |

Re: How can this keep happening?
What gets me is that when a child is on an at risk list surely regular visits should be made and bodily inspections etc. Going of the last photofit of that little lad and the evidence from the young girl who was staying there(who incidently didnt say anything until it was to late) the abuse could have been spotted sooner had the child been looked at.

Re: How can this keep happening?
Cherokee I made a lovely long thread about it, but perhaps we could keep angry comments here and nice ones to my thread so that we can leave nice messages for the child that aren't riddled with anger and mention of the monsters that did that to him?

Re: How can this keep happening?
People who do things like this aren't normal people.....they can't be.
Disgusting. |
Re: How can this keep happening?
According to what I heard the child was being visited twice a week. The bruises were being hidden with chocolate. Social Services and the doctors must surely take equal responsibility for this tragedy!!!

Re: Sickened
R.I.P. little baby boy, I hope you can sleep peacefully now with the angels. No harm will come to you any more.

Blazey it seems we both decided to do a thread round about the same time so I obviously missed yours. more than happy to have them combined after all the content in both leads to the same |
