MY 'mad friday'

Tonight didn't quite end up how I expected it and I felt the most vulnerable I've felt in a while but ultimately ended up enjoying myself, so thank you to all the accywebbers who were so hospitable to me tonight and those who gave me something to think about, it made me realise that no matter how hard I work I can't escape what I was born into and I can't change who I am just by wasting a couple of grand on an education. Let it be said though that I'll always contend it and stand my principles even if they contradict the existence that I have been born into. Nothing wrong with a bit of bite and change here and there and I'm more than willing to fight back. I'm only human and sometimes I break just like everyone else, I just have to keep getting up and giving all I've got.

Thank you for being such a pleasure and thank you to anne and mick for my first and only xmas card this year, god bless you both.

Merry xmas everyone!

Nope but I am going to start a petition for a widespread cull of all the idiots in accrington who think things are different than they actually are.

If you do get the cull I am sure the blood bank would be a friend for life with all the donations. ;):D

I'm too tired right now and it would only start a very personal discussion that I'd rather be kept confined to the evening so not really.

Thanking the members who I did meet tonight of course. The others can only be jealous for not being there to witness the events and perhaps be told via PM.

I'd like the photographs PM'd to me too please and they can be posted in the galleries if anyone chooses to put them there!

Re: MY 'mad friday'

For once bernadette, I don't care what you say, because I met very nice people tonight from accyweb who now know exactly what I am like in person and they know my thanks is sincere.

Shame you couldn't have been there to meet me but it doesn't matter, because my point has been made now and I don't have to bother defending myself to you.

And obviously I've just given people permission to put up pictures of me and I'm sure most of the other people with me tonight will be more than happy to share the happy evening with everyone :) and I did say PM them to me.

Trouble maker, to put it nicely *pointing finger*

BERNADETTE 20-12-2008 01:05

Whatever hun nice that you think your permission is needed but hey ho we can't all be so important as to need to have a thread and grant permission for pics to be posted. How nice to be so very important.

If you read properly I asked for them to be PM'd to me, so there is no issue, seen as they are of ME after all. It isn't like you were though so I don't see why it matters to you whether pictures of myself are sent to me anyway.

Caz 20-12-2008 01:12

Bernie, suggest we butt out of her "me" thread, lol. We are just feeding her. :D She couldn't post in the Xmas meet one like everyone else does. Has to post one about her.

doesn't want to post any details after she gives us snippets, so as to make herself seem fascinating maybe?

Pity you can't come accross as on here as "nice" blazey isn't it?

No reason to escape what you were born into .. what's wrong with that anyway ? Just a matter of going up another step of the ladder .. which you are sensibly taking advantage of.

You a lovely girl Blazey, as I discovered tonight. x

This may come as a shock but you and Bernadette don't exactly come across as "nice" here. You've jumped down Blazey's throat for no reason whatsoever. Firstly, if all the 'me' threads (as you call them) were taken down from AccyWeb then there wouldn't be much left. It's the personal anecdotes and stories that keep this site as warm and friendly as it is. Secondly, Blazey has all the right in the world not to post every detail of tonights events to people who are only interested in gossip.
There's some real nasty people around.

Very briefly - there was a discussion going on between 5 or 6 of us. blazey mentioned some personal information about her and her family relative to the debate. It upset her when other people did not agree with her point of view. That's it really, nothing exciting like you might have been expecting.

So it was just blazey playing the drama queen was it:D

blazey 20-12-2008 15:59

Re: MY 'mad friday'

It wasn't a case of disagreeing, it was pretty much a case that there is no realistic answer to the problem and I was being personally attacked for something I can't provide a solution to and the most I can possibly do is work hard and ensure the problem doesn't persist. If you think personally blaming someone for the country's economic downfalls is the andrew to your problem then fair play to you, but I would like to think the educated population of the country has much more to say than that.

entwisi 20-12-2008 16:14

Re: MY 'mad friday'

Posted via Mobile Deviceyou were not 'personally attacked'. You quite simply did not want to hear what was being said because it placed blame in different place than you wanted . I was gobsmacked when you ran outside, if you react like that in a simple debate then i don't fancy your chances in a court of law.

emamum 20-12-2008 17:17

Re: MY 'mad friday'

have i missed something in the first post? I thought Blazey was being nice??

blazey 20-12-2008 21:01

Re: MY 'mad friday'

You say it like I was wrong, but to be wrong I would have to be the one personally liable to solve the problem. I'm not a politician and I certainly wont be put in a situation in a court where I am held to be the one responsible for solving poverty in Britain.

And if I ever was, I doubt anyone is going to suggest I march individuals to the estate agents or the job centre. It is very naive to think it is as simple as that anyway, I just find it frustrating when not only am I arguing with irrational people but I'm having to defend something I can only do so much to change.

Anyway, like I said, I enjoyed the evening and I know that the people I met appreciated my company and it was very nice to meet some more accywebbers today and I don't think ANYBODY who has met me these past two days will say I'm a horrible person or that I deserved having to defend myself to three grown adults who should be bigger than playground bullies whilst having a camera in my face.

If I'm seen to be in the wrong by all the people witnessing the conversation then fine, but I don't believe that to be the case. I'm up to my eyes with uni work at the moment and I made time to come and finally meet people in person and I'm glad I did. I suppose it is easier to blame the 19yr old for all the problems in the world but at least I'm aiming towards a career and doing something with my life, what more do you want me to do!?

It was well worth meeting the people who I knew would be nice and worth speaking to. It actually made me proud on some levels to be from accrington.

Sadly I think there is always something that overshadows accrington and I sense it more and more each time I come home. Businesses aren't bothering to invest in the town, more buildings are becoming derilict and we seem to be letting the council throw money at stupid things like an 'eco station'. Why would anyone even want to come to accrington any more? There is nothing here.

I'm just glad I live in Oswaldtwistle but it seems to be going in the same direction recently. I dread the next holidays because I've no idea what will be gone next. Except from Woolworths...

Thats not quite true Kate.

She was trying to be a little controversal like she is online. However when doing it online she has time to think and plan her response. Face to face she could not handle it and did one.

I don't want to explain as it is personal but she was on a iffy one debating that particular topic with the people she was.

Maybe she would like to start the debate on thread and we can see what others think.

I agree....If the lass had a problem with the situation and thought she was being put under pressure she has every right to take stage left.
Too many people think they they have a right to point the finger and bully members on here for their views. I am not keen on the Labour theme but appreciate what she is saying....Turncoat. :)

In my experience Mick, women don't carry bags, they're more like suitcases:D

Are we saying that katex needs glasses, due to not being able to see the difference between one 'bag' and another? :D Or maybe eyes in the back of her head would be better, so she can see what she actually gets a handfull of when reaching behind!

Nobody gets upset about views that are just for the sake of being controversial.

I strongly believe that I shouldn't be held responsible for the problem we were discussing but I agree that my point was more defensive than entirely reasonable and as a past right winger you would know that on a general level I would agree with what you were saying but I can only fight my own battle and that takes enough energy as it is, I can't pressure people into fighting their battles as well because I simply don't have the time and energy to do that.

I work with kids and encourage them to get an education. I've worked with Moorhead before it became Accrington Academy and I've worked with Rhyddings so chances are I may have worked with the children of some accywebbers. I see this as my bit of influence on the next generation but at the end of the day they will all go out and make their own choices and their own mistakes. I don't think it is my place to shape the older generation and I'm pretty sure I've been told that many a time on this forum.

I think it should be left at that.

I can't think of anything Katex did but then I didn't see her do all these other things she has admitted so she could have done anything!

No one was holding you responsible and like I said it was a subject too close to your heart.
