As for Politics being the real world, I am afraid to say you are quite correct. If we want to raise more money, we have to come up with a plan to increase profit. If politicians want to raise money, they can just invent a new tax. As we have seen from the way banks and financial institutions have been run over the past decade or so, it seems that the same mentality of council finance has been adopted by the banks, with disasterous results. The number of other businesses failing at the moment suggests that they too have been living on borrowed time for far too long and this whole mess was bound to happen sooner or later. |

i once rang the council to remove an item from my back yard and was told to leave my gate unlocked and it woudl be removed withing 10 working days which is totaly unacceptable as i had items in my yard that i dint want stealing by somone been able to simply walk in and take them so i put it out in the back alley and reported that somone had dumped a fridge freezer on my back alley what do you know , withing 2 hours a guy turned up with a clipboard who then rang teh collections department and it was taken away the same day this was 4 years ago but the last time i was unfortunate enough to have to need HBC's services for removing rubbish i was told to leave my gate open which i had to do duee to not having a back alley this time and 2 weeks after my call the item had still not been removed and took a further 5 phonecalls/reminders before the item was taken away |
Re: New waste tax of £100
Labour Councillors looked at this 2 years ago and the Conservatives were too. We wanted to consider giving a discount for recycling.
However any sort of discounting/Council Tax reductions is not going to happen because Hyndburn's systems for collecting the data, and turning it into billing info is not possible. A whole new system being put in place at other authorities is in excess of £1million and probably higher. Furthermore and more important, Whinney Hill Recycling Centre will separate all rubbish and extract 90% eventually. So it may be back to everyone doing the same unless there is a decision to separate at kerbside to avoid contamination - paper mainly. It's a complete rubbish story in effect !!!!!! |
Re: New waste tax of £100
on the news lately they are showing warehouses all over teh country full of recycled materials which cant be sold and are going to end up in landfill making everyones efforts at recycling pointless
at the moment a lot of peopel are going out of their way to recycle , warehouses are been paid for to store the unwanted recycled goods and wages are been paid to run these places all for it to end up in land fill maybe rubbish shoudl be thrown directly out to the tip and let teh people who make money out of recycleing get their hands didrty extracting what they can sell from the tip and not leave it down to us at the moment people are washing and seperating their rubbish, seperate rounds for collecting it are been run only for it to end up where it would anyway on the tip because no one wants to buy it |
