Unfortunately kate this is what happens in local elections, it was exactly the same for the Tories back in the mid nineties when we lost councillors on the alter of national politics, so excuse me if I don't feel any sorrow for Dorothy what so ever, you pays your money and you plays your cards, pity Labour have a bloody bad dealer at the moment and yo've also got to remember that we are a tad proctorial here in Ossy :rolleyes:

I understand Jaysay, am a realist .. just a shame we should lose someone like Dorothy, there again this Judith may be turn out to be better eh ?

What does 'proctorial' mean .. no, not being sarcatic, just can't understand what word you should have typed.

It's amazing isn't it that this part of Lancashire was very Labour supported due to the workers suffering under other governments, and now times have changed ... probably because we haven't as many manufacturing industries so need for any party to support the working man's cause.

Just one complaint about the Conservative leader at the moment ... wish he would get his blooming adenoids seen to ... LOL.

Proctorial - definition of Proctorial by the Free Online Dictionary, Thesaurus and Encyclopedia.

Teehee. I looked in my Oxford Dictionary, and now realise is a derivative of a proctor ... think our Jaysay may be being metaphoric or summat ?

Not at all kate, there are a lot of people who still think things were better when we had the old UDCs and that big is not always beautiful, that is why Ossy Tories never put an outside candidate up for election, in fact since reorganisation and the forming of HBC only once has an outsider stood in Ossy and that was at the county elections of 1985 when Tim Fenton stood, I was not living in Ossy at the time and would have opposed it. I was told the reason he stood was he was engaged to an Ossy Girl and was going to live in Ossy

Didn't make it right though, maybe the logic was, but they should have got rid of two tier systems at the same time, which would have been better:rolleyes:

I doubt very much whether there are many people up Ossy who remember the former Urban Council days. Although having said I do remember one Ossy Councillor in the
1970's going on about sand bagging Union Rd

I don't think he was to keen on the idea of Hyndburn

I didn't.

Being only seven at the time I was sat in my primary school, in a class full of crying childern, devastated because Thatcher, Thatcher the nasty milk snatcher had flown through on her broomstick.
