Lancashire's Tudor Rose
The new Conservative administration on Lancashire County Council has introduced a Tudor Rose logo to replace the Red Rose that is seen as being too close to the Labour Party logo.
They have missed a trick. The new logo should be a 14 petalled rose with two of the petals removed to represent the absence of Blackpool and Blackburn. Either that or they should have introduced a logo showing a tin of Kennomeat to represent the complete dogs dinner that is local government in Lancashire! |
Re: Lancashire's Tudor Rose
The Lancashire rose is a historical emblem that surpasses the council, what are they thinking of - the idiots!

Re: Lancashire's Tudor Rose
How much, I wonder, of taxpayers money has been squandered on scoring political points?

Re: Lancashire's Tudor Rose
It isn't being replaced with the Tudor rose, according to Tealeaf.
http://www.accringtonweb.com/forum/f...s-47736-5.html (See post 63 in this thread.) Whatever it is, it's another total waste of money, which could have been spent on a thousand other, more worthier needs, in the county. |
Re: Lancashire's Tudor Rose
The Tudor Rose
The dynasty of the Tudors was symbolised by the Tudor Rose which was the emblem of the Tudors and represented the fusion of the Lancastrian and Yorkist noble factions. This fusion was symbolised by the White rose of York and the red rose of Lancaster. An important emblem of the Tudors dynasty which marked the end of the devastating English civil war called the Wars of the Roses. This section covers the design and adoption of the Tudor Rose by the Tudors and where the emblems and designs can be found. A picture of the emblem is illustrated as follows: Tudor Rose i am proud of the red Rose of Lancashire - one son born in Blackburn but the second one in Sheffield. My wife and I had an agreement - i could plant a red rose but also had to plant a white one - peace was maintained. |

County Councillor Geoff Driver, leader of the county council, said "The Tudor rose is a much-loved and well-known symbol of Lancashire and is part of our county's heritage. The new logo reintroduces the county's rose and mixes it with an up-to-date look." No it isn't!!! Where the hell do we get these numpties from? As well as being costly, it's also wrong. As others have said, the Tudor rose is a hybrid, uniting the roses of the houses of Lancaster, and York. http://wpcontent.answers.com/wikiped...ictory.svg.png Absolute cretins, or more to the point we're the cretins, for voting these idiots into positions of power. |

This statement is also intriguing: "Lancashire County Council's red rose logo has been updated with a new image which will also save the council money. " How ? Any change in marketing costs a 'company' money surely ? |

Re: Lancashire's Tudor Rose
The first decision which took 3 weeks was to increase their allowances. The 2nd decision was to change the logo.
How will it save money?? |

Having a council leader who proudly, and wrongly, proclaims that the Tudor rose is the symbol of Lancashire is cringeworthy, and shameful. |
