Medal for citizen's arrest?

Just read this shocking story, and I think if someone has made a citizen's arrest, which ends with the arrested suspect being found guilty of a crime, then there should be some sort of public recognition, and thanks.

VIDEO: Girl, nine, 'violently sexually assaulted' in Great Harwood (From Blackburn Citizen)

It's all too easy to do nothing when we see people up to no good, though hopefully, like these two lads, I think most members of the public would rush to the aid of a child if needed.

I applaud these two men, for catching this suspect, and helping to bring him to justice, and I hope the little girl manages to get over the terrifying ordeal, helped by the knowledge that her attacker is behind bars...hopefully.

Tim Bolchover and Matthew Clegg deserve a medal for their actions, in my opinion.

Well done to these 2 lads, not everyone would have done this and I agree, they do deserve some sort of recognition for what they did. The attacker may have got away with it if it wasnt for these two. Thanks to them a dangerous criminal is now behind bars.

Totally agree Rindi, especially this day and age when a lot f these thugs are armed with knives or even guns, he may well have got away with it as he wasn't local and could have quire easily have disappeared

Good on the two lads.

The guy is lucky they didnt take there own justice first. I know I would of been very tempted.

Hope he gets what he deserves and thats multiple inflications of pain along with a long spell at her magisties pleasure.

Endorse the praise for their efforts .. maybe they will get some form of official acknowledgement of what they did.... hope so.

At least, being caught so early will give some sort of comfort to the parents who will have to handle the trauma inflicted on this wee lass.

This could just be local gossip but I heard today that these two men may well be facing charges as supposedly they did take their own justice before the police arrived...as I say this is only local gossip so don't know if its true or not

i hope they did get a few punches in on the pervert before the police got there and good on them if they did

hopefully they wont get in touble if they did for doing what anyone would do

besides hopefully its the word of the pervert against the word of 2 upstanding lads

if the did give the pervert a thumping it shoudl be an extra medal if anything

Oh dear did the poor lad fall down whilst being chased, by those two nasty men, it's surprising how many people have accidents these days:rolleyes:

I hope that I wasn't the only one who shivered when I read about this retribution.
The mental image of the enactment of revenge was just as horrific as the rape itself.
I know many here are applauding it, but I consider such action as a symptom of a society in freefall.
We have been conditioned to accept violence as a normal event.
Sad, isn't it?

I agree.

Until a jury has convicted someone of this crime, it's up to the justice system to punish the guilty, and not others.

Though I'm still please the suspect is off the street until he's in court, because of these two lads.

That particular sentence is obviously quite ridiculous, but I do agree with the sentiment of the rest of your post (that Garinda summarised).

Did you not mentally visualise what form the 'retribution' would take?, and shudder at what some people are capable of?
If 'no' - you demonstrate a lack of empathy with your fellow man
