DNA Storage

BBC NEWS | Have Your Say | How long should DNA be kept on a database?

What's your opinion of the storage of DNA, he European Court of Human Rights as said its illegal to store DNA of people with no criminal convictions, the government are now trying to be able to keep these samples for 6 years. From my point of view if keeping DNA helps with fighting crime so be it, they can have a sample from me anytime

Re: DNA Storage

I firmly believe we should have a national DNA database, and think, like on so many other issues, Europe should keep it's beak out.

Re: DNA Storage

the point is in this debate is that people,s DNA is being stored on a data base even if you have not commited any crime in the UK,as the situation now is that when ever you are arrested a DNA swab is automatically taken,if you are not charged with any offence or found NOT guitly your DNA sampl;e should be destryed or taken out of the system, this is a clear breach of human rights, only people convicted should have there DNA recorded, this country is becoming a police state

Same here, they're welcome to mine too.

Though I guess you're like me, and have never been arrested.

Unlike alan7554, who has been arrrested, and is on the Sex Offender's Register.

Some people would be wiser to shut up, rather than bleat on about human rights.

I have no objections to my DNA being stored:) And no I have not been arrested but would be quite willing to give a sample for a data base:)

You were found guilty of a sexual offence against an underage girl.

Is it just an abuse of human rights when the person isn't guilty of a crime, unlike yourself?

They can now replicate DNA, which means that it can be fabricated and planted at a crime scene.
I do not have total trust in the honesty of all policemen.
It seems that some here do.
