Spar

Noticed the Spar in Clayton has a notice in the window stating no parking, parking for Spar customers only if you are not a customer your car will be clamped as this shop is on Whalley road with no parking bays I don't see how they can get away with this.

Re: Spar

That's interesting .. can't see that LCC would be going into a scheme such as this to sell/rent road space outside a shop property on their highway, like residential parking for instance. Sounds like the proprietor is trying it on or summat ?

Does need investigation methinks.

Re: Spar

if they clamped a car they would be breaking the law and would be deemed as theft .dont think they own the public highway:rolleyes:

Re: Spar

personaly i hope somone goes into the shop and tries to remove any clamp with the shop owners skull.

its just like how ossy mills seem to think they can put traffic cones out on the road to stop people parking legaly just because they are a supposedly big buisness.

no yellow lines or zig zags etc and its tough titties for them i say lol

Re: Spar

been a while since i was down there but isntthere a doctors next door to that spar or somthing and if so are they likely to be clamped too ?

Re: Spar

get a life, he aint even got a clamp, he is simply trying to keep the street cleasr for his customers, surely you can't knock him for that, I have seen people parking outside his shop and going for thier nails painting over the road, 6 hourss later they move on, no doubt the owner of the spar will loose business if customers can't park.
I presume all you whingers don't have your own business, when you have and you are reliant on outside parking it is a problem because it is taking food out of his kids mouths, enough said

It is a public road so anyone can park there.

I can't understand why anyone would put a sign in a shop threatening people with lies?

And to add to that It's not all that easy to take the food out of the kids mouth's when you run a grocery business:hehetable.

Don't make me laugh I'm not well.

Steady Duggie, reading through your comments, you are also based in the same area, yes parking all over the place & denying access to your business's is a naus, but what are people supposed to do ?? they have to park somewhere & as to calling people, well they're just stating their views too, if you're going to call someone try & be diplomatic about it eh ?? ;)

Re: Spar

yeah no probs, it simply winds me up when inconsiderate people park for ages outside your business, shop keepers need free space to get customers through the door, this will all fall into insignificance once the new bus lane arrives, no parking for anybody, that should kill of a few more local shops, well done LCC

Oh you never know maybe you'll get more passing trade if the Bus is going past your door, you won't need parking then. :)

how about people get of their fat arse's and walk a few yards. That shop has been there for donkeys years and if he is suffering loss of trade i hightly doubt its because a car cant park outside his shop its more the fact that there are other alternatives to choose from like teh shop across the road plus cheaper shops further into clayton which incidently dont have threat of clamping signs in their windows

the sign has probably caused the arrogant sod even more loss of trade lol

if you want parking for your customers move location to somewhere with a private carpark

Can't be sure, but don't think it is there now .... was driving. If it is, can't be that big.

Re: Spar

he doesn't have a clamp and to be honest even if he did i can't see him actually using it. the sign could be there for when they get deliveries and stuff so that if there is cars in the way he knows that the person won't be long because they are only in the shop x

accyman 09-02-2010 18:29

Re: Spar

in that case he shoudl purchase a please dont park here when deliveries are due sign and not put up signs threatenig clamping peoples cars .My pal has a main road buisness and simply asks cars to move or makes do when loading his van what he dosnt do is threaten to clamp people cars and get peoples backs up as it would be extreemly bad for buisness and would end up having negative remarks amde about him on the local website lol

Neil 09-02-2010 21:02

Re: Spar

Please can we keep the thread to talking about the parking issues and not make accusations about the shop that might cause trouble for this site.

Re: Spar

i live (soon i wont be) close to that shop and i have never noticed the sign. Of course i am just a pedrestian and dont care where people park as long as long as it is not outside my house where they will be clamped!!!!!!!!!!! lol
