Today I read in The Guardian that, "The Lib Dems have dropped plans for a "mansion tax" on properties costing more than £2m, while the Conservatives have ditched their pledge to raise the inheritance tax threshold to £1m." And so it begins! Earlier than ever! Politicians back-pedalling on pledges that won them votes from people who wanted them there in the first place. Only, this time around, it is all in the name of forming a 'stable government'. Sickening. |

Re: Will Gordon go????
I've just been watching the end of Oliver Twist, David Lean's 1948 version with Alec Guiness playing Fagin and Robert Newton taking the role of Bill Sykes. Oliver Reed played this part in the 1960's musical . It occured to me while watching the film that, should there be another version made, Gordon Brown would make an excellent Bill Sykes as he has those dark, scowly looks and the temper to match. Seeing as he ain't going to be doing 'owt for the next few years, maybe we could see him pop on the silver screen.

Like him or not, you gotta admit that when the time came for Gordon to fall on his sword, he did it with class.
