Just a point of note, when this event happened I wrote/e-mailed to Blackburn Magistrates, well today I got a reply ! Typically they like most any other official organ have replied without replying see for yourselves :-

Subject: Judge Malloy

Dear Sir/Madame,
having read & seen the reports & then seeing your actions
reference this man, I find myself even more disillusioned & disbelieving
of the state of the once proud Country where offensive behaviour is
tolerated above decency.

The Man was stating the views of the many, but there is so much
bending over backwards in the pathetic persuit of PC in the Country,
that he ends up suffering consequences which should never have been
applied to him.

If anyone should be reprimanded it should be that excuse of a
clerk Ms.Christine Dean, who in her sickening & sycophantic outburst
appeased all that is wrong with todays Britain, SHE I repeat SHE should
be the one facing action, firstly for contempt & secondly overstepping
her remit & position in said Court. She has seen fit to override the
views of the resident judges & encouraged the ""offended"" parties to
seek to take action.

I wonder about Ms.Deans integrity, I really do, she is there to
support the execution of the laws of the land not to deride & undermine
them as she so blatantly did, The woman should be expelled !! & the
Judge re-instated immediately.

Yours in Disbelief MR.D.W.Williams.

Thank you for your communication concerning what was said by Mr Molloy
JP on 20 May 2010, when dealing with two youths who were charged with
criminal damage (desecration of items within Blackburn Cathedral). At
this hearing the two youths were found guilty and when sentencing them
Mr Molloy remarked that "normal people would consider you absolute
scum." The Legal Adviser, who has responsibility for managing the
courtroom, felt that these comments were inappropriate.

Since that date this incident has featured in the local and national
press as well as television interviews given by Mr Molloy.
Unfortunately, there has been some inaccurate reporting by the Media,
which has been unhelpful. The position is that in accordance with normal
procedure, an investigation will be carried out by the Local Advisory
Committee in relation to what Mr Molloy said. He has not been suspended
from his magisterial duties but has stood down from sitting as a
Chairman whilst this investigation is pending. I cannot comment further
on this issue. In relation to the Legal Adviser, this is an internal
issue for Her Majesty's Courts Service to investigate and deal with
internally. We do not comment on any internal matter.

I trust that the above information clarifies the position.

So there you have it officialdom at its best !

To be honest Cashy, No ! Seeing the way things are run in UK it just really irks that common sense doesn't prevail more often & every time it's the same miserable performance, those with decent intentions & attitudes are turned over to the benefit of the deadbeats.

Like I've said elsewhere, until there is a drastic turn around in the fortunes & attitudes of the Country I sadly won't be coming Home to stay, but I'll continue to visit.

I had a copy of the same response and I thanked them for the response and sent this in reply:-
Thank you for you response to my e-mail.
While I understand that the media may have mis - represented elements of this case, it was no less perturbing to hear that this man had been penalised in this way, while the Legal Adviser appeared not to have been reprimanded for a comment made in open court(allegedly).
I hope that Austin Molloy will continue his good work on the bench, and that the legal investigation will be swift in coming to a conclusion. We need people who have a firm grip on the realities of life, who can reprimand these vandals in language that they understand.
If this makes the vandals in question, think for one minute about the consequences of their ill thought out actions, then a good deed will have been done.
Sincerely.

Those are the sentiments of any right thinking people Margaret, but obviously not those who really matter, court officials
