I'm gobsmacked!
What the hell is all this about?:confused: Kids being ordered off buses because they wear an England shirt and it offends the foreign driver
It beggars belief :rolleyes::eek: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...all-shirt.html |
Re: I'm gobsmacked!

Re: I'm gobsmacked!
It's getting beyond a joke. He is in England, he should expect to see English things........or am I dreaming again?
|
Re: I'm gobsmacked!
It really is about time folk stood up against this idiocy...he should be sacked pure and simple!

Re: I'm gobsmacked!
So...bus driver acts like a prat, passengers stand up to him in a united show of common sense, driver backs down. He receives NO backing from the bus company, NO backing from the police and NO backing from any form of authority whatsoever.
Another non-story from a chip shop wrapper. |
Re: I'm gobsmacked!
Exactly what i thought more meaningless rubbish from the mail, less crap up whinney hill tip.
|
Re: I'm gobsmacked!
yep but it still happened and i for one am glad it got printed to show these idiots for what they are , im just glad common sense prevailed because it rarely does

And in fact, common sense prevails quite a lot of the time. There's a big Tesco store round the corner from me. Plenty of foreigners working on the check outs, plenty of foreigners shopping there. At the moment, it's festooned with England flags and banners. And they're not just promotional point of sale material from food and drink companies, there's loads of homemade stuff that the staff have made. There's not been one single complaint about it from staff or customers. But you'll never see a story about that in a Tory rag like the Daily Mail. |

Even though it's probably the most heavily skewed newspaper, politically, find me a story in it that isn't true or accurate, and that hasn't resulted in legal charges. They have teams of lawyers checking what's published, so good luck with your search. Just because you don't like the political bias, doesn't make whats reported 'unreal'. |

I'm sorry I posted it, I didn't know it wasn't true. I'm not saying all people from abroad are like the bus driver, I just thought it wasn't a nice thing to happen to a young boy.

I just felt sorry for the young lad in his England shirt looking forward to the world cup. Little uns don't understand something like being thrown off the bus because of your shirt.
Thing is I don't usually read the papers so I didn't really notice which paper it was in. It could have been the timbuktu Echo for all I knew:D |

Re: I'm gobsmacked!

Whether he should be sacked or not is down to the bus company. I would've thought a sound ticking off and verbal warning would've sufficed. However, either way, the story is hardly national news. |
Re: I'm gobsmacked!
If this bus driver's a racist, how about Bristol City Council? They seem to have caused somewhat of a controversy by advertising a job as 'open to black and ethnic minority graduates'. What would the reaction be if someone advertised a vacancy open to white graduates?

Look, if it makes you feel any better, I will fly anyone's flag given the right incentive, but, just let someone of any colour or creed tell me I can't fly mine when I'm feeling Patriotic, then all that is P.C. about me will go through the window.
