"These idiots"? No, just one bus driver who behaved like an idiot. If he'd behaved like an idiot in another way - ie, chucked a kid off the bus because they were 1p short for their fare, it would never have made the national press. I wonder why?

And in fact, common sense prevails quite a lot of the time. There's a big Tesco store round the corner from me. Plenty of foreigners working on the check outs, plenty of foreigners shopping there. At the moment, it's festooned with England flags and banners. And they're not just promotional point of sale material from food and drink companies, there's loads of homemade stuff that the staff have made. There's not been one single complaint about it from staff or customers. But you'll never see a story about that in a Tory rag like the Daily Mail.

Even though it's probably the most heavily skewed newspaper, politically, find me a story in it that isn't true or accurate, and that hasn't resulted in legal charges.

They have teams of lawyers checking what's published, so good luck with your search.

Just because you don't like the political bias, doesn't make whats reported 'unreal'.

I said that 'hasn't resulted in legal charges'.

Preferable would be a juicy story with a political agenda.

Ok hang on..this incident may well have happend.. but wether or not the reporting is real is another thing.... I'd bet anyone it is designed to wind up those who read that paper.
The Mail sends out an image that it is an upmarket "serious" newspaper...now that is not reality.

Like it or not, and personally I don't, though do read the odd second hand copy, so I don't become too blinkered, it's the second most widely read paper in the country.

If you discount the one that has nipples and 'news', it's the most popular.

No surprise there.. but I have noticed that most of the other "serious" papers have sold out by late afternoon.
I reckon there is some gerrymandering (does he still write for the Mail?) going on .. don't know if it's nationwide but all the McDonalds in London have been giving away a free daily mail at the run up to elections for the last 20yrs...

You might like to know that Jonathon Harmsworth, Viscount Rothermere, owner of said newspaper, has recently aquired a new brother-in-law....Mark Thatcher. After Thatcher married his wife's sister Sarah Jane, formerly Lady Francis Russell.

Horrid girls both, though their dad's sound as a pound. Used car sales man, Tel.

It's no secret that the Mail is vehemently right-wing and pro-catholic, and has been ever since it stopped supporting the fascists at the outbreak of war in '39.

I don't know why people get in such a tiz, it's not going to change it's allegiance.

Because you would expect someone to not be able to ride if they can't pay.

You don't expect a bus driver to be racist and threatening to passengers.

He should be sacked.

You would expect someone to show commonsense in both cases.

Whether he should be sacked or not is down to the bus company. I would've thought a sound ticking off and verbal warning would've sufficed.

However, either way, the story is hardly national news.

It beggars belief :rolleyes::eek:

Driver orders toddler off bus for wearing 'offensive' England football shirt | Mail Online

See today's Private Eye. This story was originally in the Stoke Sentinel which has now pulled it as being unsubstantiated. First Bus have said that they have fully investigated and can find no evidence to substantiate it. "No driver fitting the description given was working on any of the alleged routes at the relevant time, and although the routes were busy no one else has come forward about the alleged incident. It now appears that no such incident took place."
The Star, Mirror and Mail have all left uncorrected versions on their websites, as have the National Front and Stormfront.
Egg on faces?

ALL mainstream media outlets have been given the job of provoking divisions in society.

“Far from banning England shirts on our buses First is fully supportive of England’s World Cup campaign and we are, in fact, currently fitting good luck banners featuring England flags on all our buses in England.”
