Re: More Hurricane fun
Here is the latest tracking for Ivan. It would appear that Bazf will not be too badly affected and St. Augustine is unlikely to be affected except for a strongish breeze. We have to be concerned for the people of the panhandle though, it would appear they are going to take the brunt of the storm.

Hey Bazf,
Love your two humourous posts. Good stuff! |
Re: More Hurricane fun
Heard reports of Cayman Islands sounds real bad with waves 20ft. Does this thing not blow out?

Re: More Hurricane fun
They don't usually start to blow out Ifty until they go over land or cooler waters. They feed on the warm waters of the tropics and the gulf of Mexico. It can take hundreds of miles for them to disipate totally. Frances was still droping loads of rain when it reached New England last week.

Re: More Hurricane fun
I think it's going to swing further West to hit the Texas/louisiana coastline; any other predictions?

Re: More Hurricane fun
It could well do that T. I certainly hope that New Orleans do not get a direct hit. I think that would be the biggest disaster because the whole city is below sea level. It would appear, at the moment, that it will make landfall round about the Florida/Alabama border. As there is nothing but warm water in between them and Ivan, it is potentially a great disaster with billions of dollarsworth of damage and more than likely, some loss of life. Very frightening for the people in its path.
