Have you ever been...

a victim of some sort of discrimination in the workplace? And if so, how have you dealt with it?

I was once made redundant alongside a woman who was pregnant and she was convinced that the only reason I went was to try and cover the company's back for getting rid of her. As I was planning on going to uni soon anyway I didn't challenge it, but I found out that she did and was compensated.

I've just started a new job and I've noticed some signs of being treated differently by one of my managers on the basis of what I feel is my age. Because of this I've decided to join a union just in case it escalates and I don't know what to do if it threatens my job if I challenge it.

I haven't ever been the vistim of descrimination in the workplace, I am sure that ACAS do booklets about such things and the steps to take to deal with it.

Are you stupid? My question was to raise a discussion on different types of discrimination, I just added my own situation into it so it wasn't just some out of the blue question.

I want to know if anyone else on the forum has been discriminated in work.

Maybe people will not want to comment on their own situations, and in any case that was not a very pleasant response.

John most certainly isn't stupid......you don't get to be our age by being stupid.

What a pathetic response. I would suggest you only put your own situation in to it because you only ever come on here when you want to be noticed

Hey, blazey. Have you got a death wish?
You're just out of university and appear to have an attitude problem due to it. You're in the big bad world now and if you're behaving at work like you just did on here no wonder your manager is watching you.

I have been in managerial positions since 1969 - my last jobs controlling a a multi-national workforce were in 2008, so i have some experience. & your comments on this thread, particularly "Are you stupid?", would have guaranteed an early departure from any of my staffs. You need to learn about life, which does not start and end at Uni - you appear to be another example of my wasted taxes.
