Pontins

Must be in a double dip recession now. Just heard on the news that Pontins have gone into administration. Hope it doesn't go bust.

Nowt to do with the recession, rank bad management & greed. Pontins used to be a good place to go, it's nothing but a dive now

Pontins have been going downhill for years at one time they had 30 camps throughout Britain now they have just five, I only ever went to two, Southend, the last weekend it was open in 1982 there was a pool tournament and I went to the one at Morecambe on three occasions for a week all three for national pool tournaments. they were very good really in fact the one at Morecambe, the food was excellent

I actually think that in the holiday camp prime time the sixties and seventies Pontins ran a poor second to Butlins, I went to Filey twice in the early sixties and it was great for teenagers Pontins seemed more family orientated

I came second in the Junior Miss Middleton contest 1952.
I'm not looking for a toyboy, but it is nice of you to consider such an offer if I had made it.:dummy:

I think I'm right in saying that Middleton Towers was designed by a German bloke in the mid-50's; the same bloke who designed Auschwitz in the early 1940's. The aerial view certainly looks very similar.

Just out of interest, Cashy, do you remember the colour of the lampshades in your hut? Yellow/Pink by any chance?
