This fact is wrong MargaretR peter told me about it and i phoned British Gas
they phone me yesterday asked a few questions and i am now on the 'Essentials' Rate and they have put me on something else but cant remember what:D
it means that if they have to dig the gas main up or electric cable they will make sure i am not without gas or electric
so yes it can still be applied for

By the way, it quit snowing. The streets are all plowed out. Sidewalks plowed and sanded. And the trucks and the blowers are hauling the snow away to the dumps. Sorted.

But seriously, it goes something like this: it snows for a few days. The City crews plow (plough:confused:) and sand (grit), and life goes on. When there is a break in the snow, the graders blade the snow and slush into nice neat rows. The big blowers blow the accumulated mess into trucks which haul the crud out to some old quarries and to the landfills. We can't wait for the stuff to melt ..... that could be next March!:eek::D:D

I sort of don't agree with cold weather payments but only because I believe the pension should be set at a level that means pensioners can afford to heat there homes.

Not sure Neil but I don't think all pensioners get it, its the for the sick on benefits if I remember rightly, I know Joan doesn't get it. this is not to be confused with the heating allowance which is paid to people over 60 irrespective of health, but only one payment to each property

Back now & feeling rather chilly but not as bad as i'd expected! The Drummer was called "Pop" Floyd & he was one of Hendy's best mates & used to play together but he passed away quite some years ago. I'll put a post on the other "Music" thread to see if anyone on there would recall him!

Its the Green Mahou i drink these days Cashy. The Red's good if you just want 0ne or two, but its too strong for me to sup all night...showing me age i guess! THe others not bad as a "session" ale!! Lol!
