It would appear some that had no water now have and those that had now have not

Re: Water Main Burst
My water went off about 1.30 today, still not back on yet (fern gore) x

Re: Water Main Burst
Without wishing to sound too suspicious, do you think this could be a clever ruse by United Utilities?
They have ways and means of diverting other pipes into the area. They only have enough water for half the town at the moment because of the burst pipe. So, initially they diverted water to about half the houses (some people's water supply was back on within 4hours of it going off yesterday). Then, to avoid any payments (it has to be off for 48 hours before you can start claiming) they have changed the water diversions so that the other houses now have it. Thereby meaning that no one is able to claim. Just me thinking aloud. |
Re: Water Main Burst
i was getting a few drips out of the tap and i mean literally drips but united utilities classed that as been able to receive water and had apparently not received any phoncalls today other than myself saying water was having issues in ossy

Their excuse, of course, is that they are trying to ration the water, rather than allow all to get some some of the time rather than some all of the time and others to get nowt. |
Re: Water Main Burst
Quote:
That's another one of their little, lets call them 'fibs', is that very few houses have been affected. Hmmm, well most people have found out that the situation is widespread and so haven't added to United Utilities workload by ringing them because they can find out the situation via online methods. Just because we haven't rung doesn't mean we haven't been without water. |
Re: Water Main Burst
Anyway, what's the odds that this will make the main news on ITV/BBC tonight?
Given that today is the second or third hottest day of the year, I would have thought it would be rather newsworthy that the best part of a borough of 80,000 people has now been without water for almost two days. I can guarantee this - if it had been the City of Westminster, we would now have round the clock news coverage of the disaster engulfing the City, with people being interviewed in the streets, councillors being questioned, water managers before the cameras. What have we got so far? Nothing! Maybe a 4 minute slot on tonight's regional news. |
Re: Water Main Burst
May be it's a new Government idea to deprive us of water (watch this, gas and electric shortages next) so that we all move out. Thus meaning that we don't actually need an MP after all and they can fulfill their plans to reduce the number of MPs.

Re: Water Main Burst
Well are water seams to be back on but very milky and cloudy

Re: Water Main Burst
My work has been closed since yesterday lunchtime and will be tomorrow if the water isn't back on, there's no problem here up Manchester Road but my daughter up Dill Hall Lane and my son in Oswaldtwistle have had no water at all. It's a problem particularly for my son and his wife who have a four week old baby. My daughter was only able to buy sparkling water yesterday (although she did manage to get two bottles of Iron Brew and a couple of bottles of wine as well to keep her going she told me)!
As other people have said, if anyone needs water, please contact me. United Utilities should have been going out street by street with water, what about the elderly, disabled and people without transport who can't get to the places where the water is being doled out and have nobody to help? |

Re: Water Main Burst
UU have also said they'll be down the Sports Centre giving out the bottles.

I hope no kids have nabbed these bottles today to cool down with a water fight
|
Re: Water Main Burst
Just drove past the water containers left in Spring Hill, can't remember the road name. Go up Moscow Mill Street from Ossy and do a left.
They are there without supervision. Wont be nice if some kids decide to apply a bit of dog mess to the water outlets or decides to have a leak in them while UU are not supervising. |
Re: Water Main Burst
according to UU they have bypassed the leak and all water should be back on
|
Re: Water Main Burst
Still wasn't sorted by 7pm tonight!

Re: Water Main Burst
Now the water is back on I can empty the bath and put the coal back in.
|
Re: Water Main Burst
Our water was back to normal yesterday
But i have to say the way UU advertised and distributed bottled and tanker water really needs looking into they where terrible . |

I don't think she phoned up but I am sure she will do...anyway they know which areas were without water and for how long. Every household in those areas should be compensated. It isn't like there is a choice of water company.

Re: Water Main Burst
Ma didn't ring and complain because she knew they would be inundated with people ringing up.......But she was without water all of wednesday and until teatime on thursday.
I took several two litre drink bottles up there for her to use. No-on on the hill had any water.......they were all in the same boat...but not floating :D I will get her to give them a call tomorrow...or I may just do it myself and e-mail them as well. |
Re: Water Main Burst
Well...lo and behold there is no e-mail facility on the contact us site.
|
Re: Water Main Burst
Just had a letter from United Utlities, saying I'm going to get £45.00 compensation.
If you were without water when we had the recent burst, and you don't hear from them in the next few days, do contact them. |
Re: Water Main Burst
Are they going to send you a cheque or take it off the next bill?
|
Re: Water Main Burst

They didn't ask for a preference, and the way the letter was worded, they don't want to know. It didn't say to contact them, and tell them which method you prefer. Just that it'll happen shortly. |

Re: Water Main Burst
Just rcvd my letter today, not addressed personally to me, just to my address saying I'll get the standard £45 payment. So looks like even if you didn't ring & complain you'll get a refund. Ok by me as mine didn't go off either.
|
Re: Water Main Burst
My letter says we will get £10 to cover the cost of any bottled water we bought.
Our water never went off :D |
Re: Water Main Burst
There's a new letter going out.
Anyone who received a letter offering compensation, whose water remained unaffected, will now find the money is being redirected to me! ;):D |
