Well I used to drink every day, but I got to the stage where it didn't bother me if I went weeks without a drink, at one time I gave up altogether, but since I've been getting out more this summer and managing a few snifters on the way, I like a glass of real ale, I know its only in bottle form but I've tried some very interesting real ales (some of it should be labeled rocket fuel) near all are over 5.0% volume very tasty indeed

Interesting comment Jay, these days all alcoholic drinks are much stronger than they used to be - even wines seem to be getting stronger.

I have cut down a lot recently -I used to drink wine with a meal most evenings but am now limiting myself to the weekend -feel better for it and have lost weight. It's hard though as my other half, being Italian and weaned on wine drinks at lunch-time and the evening and it narks him if i don't keep him company.

Sorry Heth, I aint going to be sticking to anything. I decide when and how much I am going to drink. Not some po faced beurocrat or Member of The Royal College of Medical Boringness. It is my body and I will decide what does or does not go into it.

I thought that Mobertol's comment about Italian recommendations was pretty telling though. More EU inspired tripe dressed up and presented as "The government recommends"

I'm going to save all my '2 days off' until I have enough for a full year off!
I'll have to force myself to wait three and a half years but it's worth it! In fact if I think it's a good idea I might wait until I can have a whole two years off.

Yeah I quite agree, I know what I said seemed to approve but I think the same.

My body = I decide what goes in! ;)

Yippee, party time at AB's, from what I hear from the rumour I'm about to spread, we can all kiss our livers goodbye.

What the hey, should be worth it, we're a long time dead.

I bagsy first go on the H & S unapproved home made antifreeze!

considering what crap government allows to be put in our food i think theygot a damn cheek telling us what to eat or drink for our own good.

Im no food expert of conspiracey nut but lets face it if they are paid enough government will let almost anything into the food chain just look at atificial sweetners and what they can do to the body its a lot worse than what a few drinks will ever do

Ouber, you have my sympathy.

I did come across one intriguing possibility to end a drink famine. It involved leaning a couple of of those infuriating magic tricks that one could easily work at a table. You know the sort of thing, how do you get all the matchsticks back in the box without touching them kinda stuff. Then you go out to the bars and get people to pay to solve the puzzle.

just a thought.
