John, it wouldn't make a jot of difference. There has been too much political meddling in the past. The NHS has been a political football for every party who has ever been in government.
Money which should be spent on patients is being spent to service the PFI's.........and even if these reforms go ahead it will not mean less bureaucracy, fewer pen-pushers, it will be more of the same, and less money spent on front line services. I cannot see how bringing in private companies can drive up standards. Private companies are interested in only one thing. Making a profit for their shareholders. They are not interested in providing a service and while the government give assurances about private firms not being allowed to cherry pick the services they provide, do you really honestly belive that this will not happen? I don't. |
