Re: Does it really matter who we(you) elect???
Doesn't seem to be the case, far to often the populace is promised change, that things will get better & if not all, at least quite a few wrongs will be righted. Irrespective of the party, over the last 30 odd years this hasn't been the case, the people are saddled with greater problems, less choice & far from things being righted they've taken a step backwards.
So no, the illusion of a better future hasn't been realised for the majority & I can't see it getting better any time soon. So for my 2pen'oth, it really doesn't seem worthwhile, so you may as well go vote for an outsider, maybe then it'll give them (the major ? parties) a wake up kick in the arse & God knows they need it. |

Re: Does it really matter who we(you) elect???
The whole idea of Parliament needs reorganising.
The 3 laws of Parliament 1) No member of parliament should be affiliated to any political party or dogma 2) Each member of parliament needs a majority of REGISTERED voters to be voted into office 3) Members of parliament should vote according to the wishes of their constituents |

Re: Does it really matter who we(you) elect???
It really does matter. In the last Provincial election in Ontario, I voted for the (social democrat) New Democratic Party. They came in a powerful third in what you guys, for some reason, call a "hung parliament" ... I prefer "minority government" .... The party I support, got concessions from the ruling Liberals in return for their support in getting the budget through. Now, the super rich will be subject to a super tax. Something that Ontarians have demonstrated that they want, and something that the parties of the right and centre have been unwilling to do. So in this case my vote did make a difference. It mattered.
