I saw a UFO!
In Summer 2010 I was in a London Park it was a very sunny day with a few clouds. I looked up and saw what I thought was a plane. It was reflecting the light as they do and I thought what is that? It went behind a small cloud and did not come out of the other side and I just went "What???" It was like something vanished before my very eyes, imagine seeing a car driving down the road and then for it to vanish - that is what happened. I believe it was a UFO! It was not a satellite because that would have come out the other side of the small cloud. Nothing came out of the other side...
I have watched this video and I believe there are UFO's. Anyone else had similar experience? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u0gZM...eature=related |

Sorry -born sceptic I'm afraid. Why come zooming across the Universe travelling for light years, probaby at some cost, just to mess about playing hide and seek?!:D

Come on peeps, everyones entitled to their beliefs, some folk believe in a supreme being of some description or other, a life after death in some biblical/religious utopia, giant world dominating lizards, ghosts, England winning the world cup, so why not aliens & UFO's ? :)
Me personally, undecided, but it's such a vast universe who's to say there isn't 3 eyed, web footed, blob like beings, breathing an atmosphere of nitrogen sitting on planet Gnork, on their telepathy/mindmeld web & discussing pretty much their equivalent of what we're commenting on here ? :idunno: |
Re: I saw a UFO!
The universe is vast so i believe we are not alone, but do these ufo's come from afar or on our nearer planets underground? I believe 95% of sightings can be verified but 5% cannot. I keep an open mind and read most UFO sightings on various forums as it helps to pass the time and makes me wonder if there is life out there other than us.

Re: I saw a UFO!
It's simple: you see and object; it's flying; you don't know what it is; therefore, it's an unidentified flying object. As for other intelligent life in the universe (ok, I've assumed that humans are intelligent; and, that is open to debate;)) I'll go with Clarke on this one: "Two possibilities exist: Either we are alone in the Universe or we are not. Both are equally terrifying."

The more I read about UFOs, the more I conclude that many (note not all) are man made, and are 'black ops' projects, 'back engineered' from the few ET UFOs that have crash landed.
There are 'planes' in our skies that have cloaking capacity and high tech weaponry that we are not told about. The purpose of the secrecy is explained when you read about Operation Bluebeam which will be a simulated ET invasion designed to scare populations into accepting a World government totalitarian regime. |

For those who have made comments about me being on drugs -I wasn't on drugs. I don't go round looking for UFO's. If you asked me if I believe I say "Not Sure!" However this day - I looked up and saw what I thought was a plane shining and reflecting light as they do - it went into a small cloud and Vanished and there was no sign of it. It was either some new government aircraft or an alien space craft; that said it happened so fast part of me doesn't want to believe it, that is the same with all people. Even now I say to myself "well why don't you see any more then?" So even a part of me is sceptical. So yeh Margerat you are right - also the Government are flying unmanned drones which can zoom in on people on the ground - these were originally used in Iraq and Afghanistan to spot out over enemy lines. Guy in this video says a lot of "far-out" things ;) Breaking the Chains with Alex Collier on Easter Day 1995 - YouTube |

Fact is I am always looking up for Hawks, Buzzards, Red Kites and other birds flying over so I have a good sense of perspective. There are planes flying over every few minutes down here.
The day was pure blue sky, with very few clouds, no haze. I saw what I assumed to be a Aircraft shining reflecting light - it went into a small cloud and I expected the craft to come out the other side! Except nothing did. I wasn't drinking or had taken any drugs - I believe this was Alien Spacecraft! Or some new cloaking device used on some military aircraft! End of!:D |
Re: I saw a UFO!
There's life out there, I have no doubt, the cosmos is simply too vast. Both the Fermi paradox and Drake equation sound perfectly plausible to me.
As for Alien visits, little green/grey men, abductions, crop circles and experiments on cattle, I'm a total sceptic. Can't for the life of me find it on the interweb to give the link but I'm sure I once read a paper by Carl Sagan that described an approach by an alien craft to Earth. The crux of it was, if I recall correctly, that any aliens scanning the planet would most likely regard us as parasites and vehicles as the actual lifeform. I'm with Eric on this one, yeah there are plenty of UFO's out there but they are all of Earthly origin |

There is a problem with defining aliens in terms of "intelligence" and "life" ... in other words, we define them in our terms, ones that we can understand. I think a little reification, and lots of anthropomorphization going on here. |
Re: I saw a UFO!
Ancient mythology, including the bible, indicates that humans are the result of genetic engineering performed on early apes, in which 'their' (what we call ETs) genes were mixed to make ours.
Since they had to be here to do that, they would either - ..have to have been here before us and evolved from some other species ..or, arrived here, choosing this planet as being 'habitable' for them. |

Re: I saw a UFO!
At my new address I have a balcony/patio that provides shelter from weather so I sit outside a lot.
Last night I went out there at 1am and was enjoying the smell of the night air and the total silence, I noticed a light in the sky in the south east, in the direction of Whinney Hill or thereabouts. My first thought was - aircraft, but it didn't move or make any noise in the whole 30 minutes I was looking at it. It was too bright to be a star - it was a cloudy night and there were no stars visible. It wasn't the moon - too small - and the moon moved from that part of the sky much earlier that evening. As I looked harder I could see that the light appeared to be two lights side by side - one red and one yellowish white. What intrigued me was - it never moved and made no noise. The chances of someone else seeing it at that time of night are remote, but I ask anyway. |

Don’t mock – anything is possible. My husband swears that a few years ago, when he and a mate were returning home after working away, he saw a strange bright object in the sky – up in front of the car. It hovered for a little while and then suddenly sped away very fast.
He turned to his mate and asked had he seen ‘it’ – the other bloke, mouth wide open, was absolutely gobsmacked. Yup, he HAD seen ‘it’ right enough. Because these two were known to have one or two drinks of the amber liquid on occasions they decided not to tell because the reaction would be ‘yeh right, drunk again!’ He swears (seems to do a lot of that!) he hadn’t touched a drop as he was driving. It certainly made him re-think things. |

While I have no doubts there is life out there in the vastness of space, I feel I have to point out the following:
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Pale_Blue_Dot.png This was a famous photograph taken in 1990 by the Voyager 1 Space Probe, at the time it was only 3.7 billion miles from Earth (approx). Earth is the lPale Blue Dot, low down on the righthand side. This was taken 12 years after Voyagers Launch, it was at the edge of our solar system, last year 35 years after it was launched it finally entered interstellar space. So a Alien traveling to Earth would have to really really want to and know we are here. Ah but what about Radio Waves, well we have been broadcasting them for a while now: http://www.planetary.org/multimedia/...roadcasts.html Unless of course the Vogons are comming....... |

Playing the odds, there has to be life out there, only a fool would think otherwise. We sit in a solar system, tucked away in the corner of a galaxy of 300 billion solar systems, on the outskirts of a universe with 200 billion galaxies that we can currently see (god alone knows how many are yet to be discovered). Attempting to put that into some kind of perspective, if the Earth was the size of a shirt button, each one of of us is a single bacteria on the back of on an ant in the middle of the Brazilian Rain forest. But.... Lets just suppose that a vastly superior intelligence has the technology to see across interstellar space, and they can see so clearly that they know that Earth is inhabited. Lets then suppose that they also have ships that can cheaply travel across the vast expanse of space at vast multiples of light speed so that they could still be alive when they got here. Lets ignore the film version warfaring aliens that want our water/gold/resources, because all that stuff can be mined much more easily from your average asteroid or comet, without having to deal with Will Smith and Bill Pulman flying F16's or worrying about getting the flu and crashing into Horsell Common. I agree with you. Why would they come all this way to make crop circles, cut up cows and stick objects into the rectums of American farmers? Why would these super intelligent beings travel all this way just to leave their landing lights on as they fly north over the coppice? They are definitely out there, but why would they even bother coming to this little backwater planet of ours? |

There is one small problem with that idea.......
We inhabit the same planet as pheasant, wildlife etc. Our solar system is not inhabited by aliens. Having said that, the universe will have planets with other creatures on, whether or not they are capable of interstellar travel and are able to spot our tiny planet, let alone visit it, depends on your outlook |
