Don't know how some of these buildings were ever permitted in the Accrington Town Centre Conservation Area!

Well I note that the Barnes's building has "sold before" auction.I wonder who has purchased it?Whatever use, it must be an improvement on the current condition.

Wow, that's amazing. I wonder who bought it, and what for? I didn't know concrete had become a precious material.

Perhaps there's hope for the town yet - hope so.

A Health & Beauty Spa perhaps?

With that as a background in a picture anyone can look good.

Well I guess the buildings came before the conservation area which is a more recent idea.

Apparently being turned in to shops and flats. Presumably they expect high demand for the shops as we all know there are no shops currently empty in Accrington

Allegedly they outbid the council

I've just looked at the last planning application online that was submitted some years ago.If the new owner has a similar build plan then it is a vast improvement on the wreck that is currently on show.Who knows this may be the start of the areas regeneration. As mentioned elsewhere the neighbouring building is to become a Youth Zone.So things are looking up!

Anything is an improvement, so the sale is great. Nothing worse than a broke landlord because they can afford to fix a building like this, or demolish it, and the council can invoke all the enforcement orders they like but the process is slow and still wont get blood out of a stone.
