999 text service

Call for East Lancashire residents to sign up to 999 texting (From Lancashire Telegraph)
People are being urged to sign up for a new 999 emergency text service. Sadly this wouldn't be very good for me, trying to text during a full blown asthma attack, takes me all my time to talk on the phone never mind messing never mind texting, I never have my mobile turned on anyway. I suppose it could be handy say for deaf people or people who are hard of hearing, yet most people in this category are elderly who don't have mobiles
