Ppi

Well I think we've all been inundated with our friends from the sub-continent called John, Jack, Simon, Fred, Julie and Diana trying to tell us about PPI, So with all this prodding my Daughter gave me a phone number to ring where I could claim back the PPI payments on my Credit Card which I always thought were mandatory. I rang the number about reclaiming this cash back, they asked me a couple of questions asked me why I was making the claim, I just said never asked for it never wanted it, that's all I said, this was a few months ago, hadn't heard anything since. I went on line to my account this morning and thought it looked a bit top heavy, until I notice I'd had a refund under PPI of £543 -19p :D jaysays a happy bunny:mosher:

Excuse my ignorance John but what are/is PPI payments?
I have a credit card which is always cleared at the month end and have never hear about this payment.

I`ve had a claim in for 18 months now, still with FOS.:(

Even if you pay your card of like I have always gone there was always payment protection insurance tagged on the end depending on how much is on the bill, could be pounds could be pence, that's what I claimed back Gremlin

I am surprised that Jaysay was naive enough to sign up to this Payment Protection Insurance - since it protects credit card debt from results of unemployment. He has been sick (not employed) for donkeys years.

PS It was optional

Never knew anything about it Margaret, was never told about it when I took it out, mind you I was employed when I did take it out in the first place, maybe that's it.

Some places just pay up for obvious mis-selling, others just ignore you hoping you`ll go away. After 3 months, you can then put your complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service, which is where I am at now, but even when you get the FOS involved, they have a waiting list between 12-18 months.:(

To be honest I was surprised when I saw the cash, in my account this morning, my Daughter was only asking me about it the other week

Paris scooped a decent sum off em about 18 months ago, using a firm that contacted us whilst in Preston, Took about 9-12 months as i recall, Funny thing though whilst this was going on, we were in her bank n they offered her a sum of money to do it fer her, We declined saying she had n ongoing claim, They said they would take oer if we wanted, NO was our answer, When it was eventually paid, the amount she got was TWICE as much as her bank had offered, so just be warned n weigh up if yer going down the PPI route.;)

Good result for you Jaysay, hopefully mine will be sorted soon, looking at just over £1,500.

when does this ppi cut off date for claims happen

i havnt had my landline plugged in for months now because of the constant phonecalls from ppi people clogging up my answerphone ..

cant block them either because they use a loophole to get around the block list

As i was typing this i got a call on my mobile from a ppi company asking for a name that i have only ever used on yahoo.Looks like yahoo didnt keep my number secret when they assred me they would do when they asked me to enter a mobile phone number to verify myself and regain access to my email account

I think it`s something like 5-6 years. But, It`s not from when you paid the PPI, it`s from when you realised it had been mis-sold.
So you could have a 10 year old loan where you paid PPI, but if you only realised recently, then you can claim.
There is a very helpful forum out there with template letters and info how to claim, am i allowed to post a link to other forums?

I did it on my own, Cashy, it took 5 minutes of my time and only took less than 4 months, and nobody had it away with any commission either:D

They aren`t all that co-operative though Jaysay. With my claim, I had to write letter after letter for 3 months, all of which just got ignored hoping you`ll get fed up, Then you have to go to Financial Ombudsman.
Still worth doing though. Nothing ventured nothing gained as they say.

Re: Ppi

Also Jaysay, are you sure that you been re-paid in full, have you checked statements etc. Did you know you are also entitled to interest on top of the money you paid ( 8% if I remember correctly ).

I was thinking about that Mr G. maybe mine came through so quickly because I've never paid one penny of interest on my credid card ever, I always pay it in full every month, and I do use it too, very rarely there is £0.00 on my monthly statement. Could it be that they could see that this insurance wasn't necessary and I shouldn't have been paying it, mind you for what ever reason thank you thank you LLOYDSTSB:mosher:

The interest I`m talking about is what they owe you for having your money in their bank account.
You charge them 8% on your PPI payments.
I paid £28/month PPI payments, so i`m claiming back £28/month + 8%
On the forum I put a link to, along with template letters, there is a claim spreadsheet that works it all out for you.
If you don`t have the statements, you can send off a SAR, costs £10 and you will get everything you need to check what they owe.

You've got me interested now Mr. G. think I might just follow this up a bit further, they have seemed to settle my account without too much prodding from me:eek:

I know I don`t know you Jaysay, but from what I`ve read on here about you, they will probably have seen that it`s an open and shut case regarding whether the PPI was mis-sold, so will probably have thought, give him something before he looks into it too much and we have to give him more.
All guess work though, until you get your statements & calculator out and add up all you`ve paid.

Well after what's been said on here about this you could well be right Mr. G. so I will take it further. I never actually gave it a thought until I was getting documents ready for the shredder and the other half questioned what the payment was far, with it being in place ever since I've had the card never seemed to ring any bells, but glad I followed it up now.

I was getting excited about all this PPI thing and hoping for a bit of holiday money coming my way.
I rang the Credit card help line and it seems that I never paid any PPI I won't be getting a wind fall.

Thanks Jaysay for getting my hopes up only to get shot down again.
How about a share of yours?

It`s not just a case of, I`ve been paying PPI so I want it back, it has to have been mis-sold.
In my case, I went 5 years paying car finance, got to the end of it and cancelled direct debit, a few weeks later I got a letter saying I still owed some money and when I queried it, it was the last payment of PPI. I`d never agreed to take out PPI as it wouldn`t be suitable for me in my circumstances and when they sent me a copy of the paperwork, the boxes agreeing to it had been ticked by someone else.

Great news JaySay :)

I got my PPI payments back on two cards I had about ten years ago, no trouble at all just wrote to the bank as per letter templates online, and got it paid into my current account. It wasn't a lot of £, about £100 altogether as I recall.
However I also put in a claim for my partner and they protested, implying that it wasn't mis-sold. I replied to that letter and they have failed to respond as yet. I am glad you reminded me-I am going to chase it up today.

Sadly I won't be there they're getting spliced in China, mind you they've been together 19 years, but they're moving to America in July and by getting wed it will cut out a lot of red tape.

Then he can claim it back. One of top reasons for being classed as mis-sold.
