I think we were from the same generation or so.
Is it improper to ask how old John was when he passed?

from the info I have john was 68

Rest in peace John, I only met him once when I called to see him when he was in hospital.
After his first suspicions of the stranger entering his room we had as much of a chat and a laugh as his condition would allow.

Thanks Cashy, I'm glad he appreciated my visit enough to mention it. It breaks the monotony of a single room and a bit of banter can take away the seriousness of your situation for a fleeting moment.
He could also take the flack he was given and never lacked a reply.

Just to let you all know there will be a service for John at St Mary's church at 11am on Wednesday 3rd sept then 12:15 at the crematorium
I will be going to the crem so if you go please say hi
