Funny enough I had a similar thing happen to me with my mini clubman. I was dropping off a CB to Mrs P's dad, had parked opposite the selling out shop on the flat iron. I was doing a three point turn and the wheel went sideways when I was at a right angle to the shop. It's funny now, at the time it was a disaster, it was dark as well.

Russell at the end of Marsden St in Accrington there is a walled structure shaped like a flat iron.
When we were children we used to play in it...it had long grass, but now it has some trees that have been coppiced and usually folk toss their junk on it too.
When I go to see Ma tomorrow I will try to remember tp take a picture of it.

Mrs P. has explained it better than I could, but that's the place.

I didn't meet him that often, more spoke to him, he was know as "The Doc" as he fixed busted CB's, and from another angle your Philip was in the same year at school as myself.

I remember the Doc. I went to his house once with a mate who had a big DX cb before we took our Ham licence.
I think he lived up a steep hill somewhere behind a factory, Was it Wood nook?

I have one which is very small and fits on to a little bracket behind the mirror. It's not noticeable in the vehicle and clips from the bracket easily.
The wires are pushed along behind the headlining and door trim and out of sight.
It comes on and off with ignition and holds, in my case, a 32 gb micro sd card.
You can see the quality of the video from some screen grab shots I posted above. It's wide angle HD and cost £54 delivered.
And crash or sudden jerk and the last few minutes of the film are protected for evidence and cannot be written over until they have been watched.
The sound quality is excellent and people chatting in the back can be heard easy.
That function can be switched off.
I'm not going to advertise the make here but if you want one at that price please PM me for the Amazon code.

All instruction are in English and comprehensive.

Yes, he did mend radios...in fact all things electrical and mechanical.
I didn't know that you knew Philip either......

Small world Margaret. I have a feeling he was called Jim.

My mate drives a 44 ton artic for a firm with about 400 lorries, big red ones. Not Snothards.
They all have a camera in the cab facing out and also one watching the driver facing in.
The one watching the driver takes a video on a 1 minute loop and if there is a crash, sudden braking or anything out of the ordinary the video freezes on the last 30 seconds before and after.
It is then send over the airwaves, instantly, to a central control monitoring station for assessing and saves as evidence in case of damage claims and shows exactly what the driver was doing at the time. Maybe picking his nose or swigging from a tea pot..
My mate reversed onto a loading bay last week and touched it, the rubber defenders stopped any damage but the camera reported it to the monitoring station.
The drivers have written assurance that the company can't see the driver at anytime, it is only the monitors who get the clip of the incident.
