Perhaps because like me it was unwashed and neglected?

Could be that it is payback from someone who occasionally comes on here?

Payback? I never give anyone a reason for payback, they always make rods for their own backs.😈

Good grief, you ask that question seriously?

Shows something about you more than it does him somehow.

Less once stuck his tongue out at me

although i was glad it was only his tongue i felt so enraged by the matter i obtained a broken microwave , dumped it outside his back gate under cover of night and reported the issue as a fly tipping incident to HBC..

i hope this fabricated explanation brings closure to the issue at hand

whatever it may be :D:D:D:D

Maybe the councilor that came on here to clear his name could have ago at clearing your name as well Less

ya know help the people and all that :)

I think I'd rather remain in the Councils bad books if you don't mind, it is a far lesser evil than to be involved in his next attempt at improving the Borough. (I'd probably end up with a new land fill site outside my back gate).

[threat of a £1000 fine] can the council issue such a fine without proof of a violation or breach of a law

The short answer is 'no'.
The council would have to take you to court and they would give you a 'fine'.
They may well be able to issue a fixed penalty tho.

Re: How Annoyed Should I be?

If we go back to the very start of the incident, where the bin policeman spotted the offending microwave, then spent time writing out a warning notice, going round to the front door, posting it through the letter box, thereby provoking a discussion in which many regular contributors to this forum have had to spend many hours arguing the pros and cons of the council bin collection service (all cons, it seems. I haven't seen any pros).....

If, instead of him doing all that, he'd just stuck the microwave on the back of his van and taken it to the tip, we'd have all been spared the palava.......

Is there a lesson there for the council? Or are the bin policemen too 'important' to get their hands dirty?

The Council and lesson should never be in the same sentence.;)

All that's needed doing is move it from the back to the front and then the scrap metal pickeruppers will be along to pick it up. :)

Oh dear, gone back into hiding again after calling me a liar and having one of his fellow (Labour) Councillors accuse me on HC of "hassling" him. I have asked both of them to clarify and justify their statements but of course I won't be holding my breath.
