Re: Corona Virus

Thank you, though being alone and because the brick wall I've made my best mate doesn't say much, I have been having doubts.

Not sure where to put this cry for help. A number of women in Hyndburn are sewing scrub bags for nurses, as they finish their shift they place their uniform into the material bag to take home and place the entire bag and contents into the washing machine to avoid virus contamination. Has anyone got any tape they would be happy to donate for the drawstring on these bags. The target aimed for is 6.000 bags. If anyone can help please PM me. Thank you. Diane

Diane, I wish I could help you...but I have nothing like that.
Have the ladies thought about cutting thin strips of the material they use to make the bags out of.....ok they would need to be stitched, but it could be a temporary fix.

Please would you tell all the ladies concerned that they are doing a grand job.....and thank them from me.

And so, the saga of PPE goes on, you couldn't make this up!

If things weren't so serious this would be ridiculously funny.

Re: Corona Virus

I certainly will Margaret and thank you. I put the same on the buy, sell and wanted. The problem is the shops are closed were we could buy it, but we will get there , maybe with your suggestion.

Re: Corona Virus

Diane, when I was training we had bags similar to what you describe, but they were not drawstring.....they had a piece of tape sewn into the side seam on one side.....with equal lengths to wrap around the neck of the bag and tie rather than drawstring.
It might be an alternative so that if you do get some tape....it will go further.

Failing that.....Habiknit, who are haberdashers at Ewood. It says they are open and their phone number is 669239.
You could give them a ring and see if they would donate to your good cause.
It is worth a shot.

I don't do Facebook, but maybe that would also be an avenue to explore...many businesses use it

Chickens coming home to roost at last for Neil Ferguson?
Let’s hope someone in the Government takes the opportunity to ignore this catastrophist celebrity ‘scientist’ who has done so much to frighten the elites and the media into closing down this country by promoting dodgy computer modelling, again.

https://www.spiked-online.com/2020/0...dern-politics/

And if you still believe Ferguson’s latest ‘modelling’ is ‘science’....

Re: Corona Virus

That Man (Ferguson) was proved bogus in his predictions in the past..so why was his model considered worthy of note this time?
It stinks.

Still every cloud has a silver lining..the country might be bankrupted by all this, but Greta Thunberg is smiling because it might save the planet....the drop in flights. road journeys etc...must please her except it will not please those that manipulate her...that were hoping to sell green energy items to the world.

Some more observations on Ferguson....

https://www.breitbart.com/europe/202...avirus-models/

Why would a ‘scientist’ refuse to reveal his working out?

Re: Corona Virus

Well, there is only one reason in this situation.....and that is, it is crap.
It isn't like he has invented a new drug that he needs to keep secret for fear of others stealing it.
It isn't a new invention either.
It is seriously flawed and to,let others see it would reveal that he is not fit to be in the position he is in.

Re: Corona Virus

I have been sewing the scrub bags as you know, but sadly did not get any tape / ribbon/ bias binding from here. How ever a friend did give us a large roll of ribbon that is very useful. I did try making ties of the actual matereial but found it very tricky turning it the right way round,I used a knitting needle. Now I have suggested that Radio Lancs put it on the air but that is up to our co-ordinator, I dont want to interfere.

Re: Corona Virus

I am sorry to hear that you have not been able to get the tape you needed.
The plea via local radio might get you what you need. It is a good idea.

Re: Corona Virus

Lancashire Police saw a chap paragliding over Pendle Hill and sent him on his way.

Have the police nothing better to do?
Ok, so the man travelled from the Manchester area to Pendle, but honestly...what harm was he doing?
He was over 100 ft in the air, so he could not be accused of contravening social distance rules.
I know that it would be stretching it to call this exercise or 'essential'.....but can the police not employ a bit of rational common sense?

Apparently not.
Have we unwittingly become a fascist state?
I thought that the lockdown was advisory.....not supported by laws....so the police should get on with solving crimes.
Just my thoughts.

Re: Corona Virus

that to me is nothing but stupidity at its best, the police for me have taken little credit for their part in this lockdown.
