Please, think about it, it is not rocket science to believe that this epidemic is now over with. I do have first hand knowledge of this when one of my best mates, a martial arts master and one of the fittest blokes you could ever meet, contacted Corvid 19, he is now just about managing to "shuffle" around with a zimmer frame. please, please, do not take this virus lightly. Re: Corona Virus
Taddy, you are entitled to your view.
Last weekend there were huge protests in many cities. There was no social distancing.....and have there been increased incidences in the areas where these actions took place.....Not any that have been reported and believe me they would have been. The shops opened on Monday....huge queues outside the likes of Primark and Ikea. So how come all these people feel confident enough to go out and shop(and although attempts at social distancing are being promoted....I can't believe they are being maintained inside shops...it just is so impractical). All these people go out and about...why can't they go to work? Why can't we get U.K. PLC up on its feet and back in the game? How long should there be this lockdown? Until a mythical cure appears, or a vaccine is developed that will confer immunity with no ill effects? By that time the economic effects will be so advanced and serious....meaning that our children and their children and possibly even their children as well will have had their futures trashed. Pretty soon there will be no jobs to go back to if the lockdown is not lifted. Life can never be without risk. Every day we get up we are exposed to a variety of risks. How we manage the risks is paramount....but when the risk of consequences becomes greater than the risks of going about our daily doings....then something has to be done. I want to get back to normal...proper normal.....and I would go out and about freely but taking responsibility for my own safety, by my own actions. That is my reason for signing. |
Re: Corona Virus
if i was of working age i would have signed. being retired i feel as if i should leave it to workers to decide their futures.

Re: Corona Virus
Professor Karol Sikora the eminent cancer specialist is saying that the statistics that are being bandied about may be over inflated to the tune of 50%.
This is because of the way deaths are registered. Some deaths have not been actually caused by the virus, but the underlying causes that made the person susceptible in the first place. So people have died with Covid -19 rather than from it.....and there is a difference. If left to my own devices I would have gone out and about during the last three months, but taking sensible actions to protect myself. I have resented being 'nannied' by the state. During all of this time, both my husband and myself have taken Vitamin C(1 gram daily) and vitamin D(10 micrograms daily) this is something we do every winter to protect ourselves from winter viruses. So I am not at all surprised that it was reported that these actions do confer some benefits in keeping your immune system in good shape. Taddy, you do what you feel comfortable with, and if you believe and trust the scientists and want to follow their advice because you feel safer then so be it....but for heavens sake do not shut down the whole of the UK presuming it will be less risky. Us oldies are the ones who are seen by the younger folk as a 'drain on society'.....we are feeders not breeders and as such could be seen as disposable. These 'protective' actions have created irreparable damage to society, economically, educationally and socially and the Covid effect will have a detrimental effect on many people for decades to come. |

P.M.for you Cashy, if I have done it right that is, still trying to get the hang of this Private Messaging lark.

Re: Corona Virus
The "Younger" folk that you refer to Marge are in a minority, all the ones that I have talked to whilst on my allotment and they have been passing either on foot or on their bikes to take exercise on the coppice have not had a good word for all these "Woke", (thank you once again for the word), people that we see and hear about on the television. The Majority of people that I hear from are just like you and I and want everthing to return to pre Covid 19 days; if they ever do that is. Dont let this pendemic make you lose faith in the goodness of the populace.
I shall now book a soapbox on Hyde Park Corner in order to reiterate the above. By heck, my English Literature skills seem to be improving, maybe Miss Crostons teaching has finally come to fruition but then again that is open to debate Regards, the Luddite. |
Re: Corona Virus
Ha Ha, Maybe my English skills are not as good as I thought, the English Literature skills should probably have read English Language skills.

Re: Corona Virus
I would never have mentioned it Taddy.
And as for being woke...that term really doesn't apply to the coronavirus situation(maybe my explanation was lacking in some way), but more to those situations such as Black Lives Matter(don't ALL lives matter?) and Climate change, the banning of songs, words, films pubications, atr and artefacts because they do not sit well with these people who will not only take offence...they will take the gate and the field as well if they think it makes them look aware(or woke). Will there be room for me on that soapbox Taddy? I can feel the urge to 'tub-thump' |
