Re: Tony Blair Knighted
If you feel that this knighthood is wrong…please sign the petition.
It may not make much difference, but it will show those who proposed this t*rd….what we think of their actions. https://www.change.org/p/the-prime-m...share_intent=1 |

The Civil servants will see to that….it is they who make up the list that the Queen is given to rubber stamp. I do not know If she had turned anyone down in the past. This knighthood I’d for Chivalry and you could not call this man chivalrous by any stretch of the imagination. While I know our signatures will have little effect…at least it make me feel like I have expressed my disgust at the situation. This mans honour devalues every other person past and present who has been given recognition. |
Re: Tony Blair Knighted
she cannot turn anyone down for this award. FACT.check how long this award has gone on i think you may be surprised.:) nearly 700 years i believe so their surely must be worse than Blair awarded it?

Re: Tony Blair Knighted
I looked on the Royal Family Site and it said that the Queen has the sole right to confer honours.
However it did not say that she could refuse….but she does not choose who the recipients of honours are. The civil servants provide the list of people they feel should be honoured. Not sure if they also choose the category of honour too….although there are some honours which are reserved solely for military personnel. |
Re: Tony Blair Knighted
There might have been worse, but that doesn’t make it right.
The worse ones were not in my living memory….. I think the only reason she has agreed is because there are other PM’s who cannot be honoured without this lump of slime getting his honour first. |

Really? Surely these 'honourable' people didn't just wait around for their turn to be honourable? Makes no sense to make them wait now, if there are only so many per year then if you didn't make it that particular year, you should become void from the list until the next honourable thing you do in the future. |
Re: Tony Blair Knighted
The thing is all of these past prime ministers were well paid….went on to earn even more money from contacts made while in politics….go on after dinner speaking engagements…write books……it is just huge ego trip.
If that odious man had any morals at all (but we know from past experience he doesn’t know the meaning of the world) he would turn down this award because he knows that he has very little public support….but of course being a narcissist he has to take it. |
Re: Tony Blair Knighted
In the 700 years since the inception of this honour, 40 people have had the award removed.
Don’t ask me who or when, because that I do not know. |

Re: Tony Blair Knighted
There is a committee called the Forfeiture Committee.
Fred Goodwin the Head of RBS had his knighthood rescinded, George Castledine too….he was head of the Nursing and Midwifery council. Anthony Blunt….the spy….there are quite a few if you search for them….but all of them would have fallen under the scrutiny of the Forfeiture Committee, and it would be deemed their behaviour was unbecoming to the honour. Well, that can certainly be said about Blair before he even gets it. He should be on trial at The Hague for war crimes. |
