Crime and Punishment
I was sent this a couple of days ago and thought I might share it with you. Some of you may already have heard about this guy. (the formatting is not mine)
____________________________ I lived in Maricopa County, Arizona for many years. I have White, Black and Mexican relatives and friends there and THEY ALL LOVE THIS GUY! So, don't email me with the - you're a rotten, mean, stupid lady, all you need is love - stuff. I don't buy it. Men like this is what is needed across this crime ridden land. Yes, Virginia, for some of us hardier folks, there are heroes - one's in Arizona. "Way to go Joe!!!! Now to make this Federal law for every single prison/jail in the US, period, no more luxury spas, this is the way it should be for all and I bet they don't come back! TO THOSE OF YOU NOT FAMILIAR WITH JOE ARPAIO - HE IS THE MARICOPA COUNTY SHERIFF AND HE KEEPS GETTING ELECTED OVER AND OVER." HERE'S SOME REASONS WHY: It was Sheriff Joe Arpaio (in Arizona) who created the "tent city jail": He has jail meals down to 40 cents a serving and charges the inmates for them. He stopped smoking and porno magazines in the jails. Took away their weights. Cut off all but "G" movies. He started chain gangs so the inmates could do free work on county and city projects. Then he started chain gangs for women so he wouldn't get sued for discrimination. He took away cable TV until he found out there was a federal court order that required cable TV for jails. So he hooked up the cable TV again only let in the Disney channel and the weather channel. When asked why the weather channel he replied, so they will know how hot it's gonna be while they are working on my chain gangs. He cut off coffee since it has zero nutritional value. When the inmates complained, he told them, "This isn't the Ritz/Carlton. If you don't like it, don't come back." He bought Newt Gingrich' lecture series on videotape that he pipes into the jails. When asked by a reporter if he had any lecture series by a Democrat, he replied that a democratic lecture series might explain why a lot of the inmates were in his jails in the first place. With temperatures being even hotter than usual in Phoenix (116 degrees just set a new record), the Associated Press reports: About 2,000 inmates living in a barbed-wire-surrounded tent encampment at the Maricopa County Jail have been given permission to strip down to their government-issued pink boxer shorts. On Wednesday, hu ndreds of men wearing boxers were either curled up on their bunk beds or chatted in the tents, which reached 138 degrees inside the week before. Many were also swathed in wet, pink towels as sweat collected on their chests and dripped down to their pink socks. "It feels like we are in a furnace," said James Zanzot, an inmate who has lived in the tents for 1 = years. "It's inhumane." Joe Arpaio, the tough-guy sheriff who created the tent city and long ago started making his prisoners wear pink and eat bologna sandwiches is not one bit sympathetic He said Wednesday that he told all of the inmates: "It's 120 degrees in Iraq and our soldiers are living in tents too, and they have to wear full battle gear, but they didn't commit any crimes, so shut your damned mouths!" Way to go, Sheriff! Maybe if all prisons were like this one there would be a lot less crime and/or repeat offenders. Criminals should be punished for their crimes - not live in luxury until it's time for their parole, only to go out and commit another crime so they can get back in to live on taxpayers money and enjoy things taxpayers can't afford to have for themselves. Go meet the Sheriff http://www.mcso.org/ ===================== |
Re: Crime and Punishment
No wonder Joe Arpaio keeps getting elected over and over again. Could do with him over here to whip the prision service into shape.

Re: Crime and Punishment
It would be great to think that a boot-camp system like this could be set up in Britain, but I fear that Cherry Blur, and her bleedingheart liberal gang of state sponsored legal aid would have plenty to say about it.
|
Re: Crime and Punishment
Can we get a clone of this guy to come over here and do for our criminals what he seems to have done over there. Bu**er human rights activists...... jail should not be the cushy number it appears to be...... criminals having a better time than some of the pensioners in the old folks homes(Not PC I know). Criminals being treated like victims.......victims being treated like criminals without the 'innocent until proven guilty' attitude....... let jail be the deterrent it ought to be.
|
Re: Crime and Punishment
A-B can you send a copy of this to Tony Blair.... he seemed to favour being tough on crime as I recall...... maybe this would give him some definition of the word 'tough'
|
Re: Crime and Punishment
I would just love to see this system in operation here. I believe this is where we are going wrong. The criminals aren't at all deterred by a jail sentence here, as one young layabout said to me "so what if I go to jail, they have to feed me there don't they?" I don't think he'd have quite such a casual attitude if he'd experienced tent city.
Hmmm - just think, tents here in the pouring rain and the gales, leaking tents, bent or broken tent poles...... |
Re: Crime and Punishment
Bowley Scout Camp, with barbed wire, it sounds like.

Re: Crime and Punishment
America can come up with good idea's sometimes.
Bring it on. |
Re: Crime and Punishment
Great idea - but what about their Human Rights? As Sparks says, Cherie would really go to town on this one (but of course that's her business, making money out of human rights for toerags). So far as I am concerned, and I think a great many other people, if you decide to commit a crime, you abrogate your human rights right there and then.
Come home, Joe, all is forgiven about that little unpleasantness in Boston Harbour .. |
Re: Crime and Punishment
A yank I agree with!!!
Geesh, I'd never of thought it. How abouts we start saving for his air fair over. Anyone want to set up a paypal account? I reckon we would raise enough to pay his wages for the next 10 years without any problems. |
Re: Crime and Punishment
When you become a criminal you should expect your human rights to be suspended.
What about the two thugs in the telegraph yesterday...... they tortured an alcoholic woman...... locked her in a cupboard, beat her, urinated on her, put dog faeces all over her face. Then they went out and pretended to help a blind man, they knocked him down and stole his wallet and made him give up his PIN number so that they could get the money out of his account...... they also did this to the alcoholic woman too. They are now tucked up in prison....gym facilities, colour TV, videos, three meals a day. No worries about the community tax, or rent or any other of the responsibilities we all have....... and society thinks they are making these thugs 'pay'..... it is a joke...... and the best of it is, you and me, who do the right thing and stay on the right side of the law, well we are keeping these no counts. Bring this guy over here, or at least his ideas.......I would vote for any politician who said that this was how these thugs were going to be treated. |
Re: Crime and Punishment
As they say....'if you can't do the time don't do the crime'
|
Re: Crime and Punishment
Yep, it's about time the criminals stopped having a better life in prison than many innocent people do on the outside.
|
Re: Crime and Punishment
"It's 120 degrees in Iraq and our soldiers are living in tents too, and they have
to wear full battle gear, but they didn't commit any crimes, so shut your damned mouths!" That simple statement should be one of the greatest utterances of our time..... |
Re: Crime and Punishment
I love this man (sorry Sparky) when can we bring him to the UK? :D

With our politicians..good old Joe wouldn't get entry into the UK!! |
Re: Crime and Punishment
Did anyone see the report on the local evening news last week (Thurs - Fri?) concerning Preston Jail I think, though I could be wrong, and probably am.
Anyway the report concerned a Prison Warden wanting to crack down on dealing drugs in prison. Apparently there is an astonishing amount of what is termed "Contraband" chucked over the walls of prisons by friends and relatives on the outside, Drugs, mobile phones, cash and weapons - including guns. The staggering array of stuff that had been intercepted was put on display for the camera during the report and gives the impression of prisons that are about as secure as sieves. |
Re: Crime and Punishment
and what about the 'Drug Barons' in Walton Jail...... it beggars belief. Prisons seem to be a microcosm of what is happening on the outside.
|
Re: Crime and Punishment
Talking about crime, who fancies a debate with this bozo?:
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article...443903,00.html I do hope that should anyone do so, they refrain from using undiplomatic and profane language. |
Re: Crime and Punishment
It's no wonder that we have racial tension in this country with idiots like him,and muslims are frowned upon in the western world.
|
Re: Crime and Punishment
I have printed off the original thread by A-B.......and I am now waiting for the prospective parliamentary candidates to come knocking.......I am going to show them that and tell them I will vote for them when they do similar things with our jails.

Re: Crime and Punishment
The cleric is regarded as a fringe extremist by mainstream Muslims and is banned from preaching at many mosques. But every night he is using internet forums to reach an audience of between 60 and 70 committed listeners, most of whom are under 30.
(link by Tealeaf) Considering the numbers of Muslims in this country, I must admit with a certain twinge of pride that the vast majority of Muslims want to live in peace within their chosen country rather than pander to the wishes of a fanatic. A lady once told me that a "war" is not a war unless both sides decide to fight. I certainly have no personal grudge against Muslims, Hindus, Catholics or any other religion so I can live side by side with anyone whatever their belief. The whole system has got out of hand thanks to "Cherry" Blair and others, This man should have been deported a long time ago, bring in draconion laws if neccesary BUT CUT OUT THE RED TAPE and do what other countries do......BOOT THEM OUT, NOW! |
Re: Crime and Punishment
The thing that really astonishes me about the creature in Tealeaf's link is that he has been spouting his poison here for eighteen years, while claiming social security benefits.
Talk about biting the hand that feeds! |
Re: Crime and Punishment
:( The trouble is that people seeing and hearing him will start to suspect many other muslims of having similar opinions. Just how many impressionable young men does he inspire?
Why the heck are we paying for this guy to incite violence and declare war on us? Yes WE are paying. He's living here at taxpayers expense! If we can't deport him then cut off his benefits. Don't we as taxpayers have the right not to want our money to go towards feeding and housing someone who would kill us as soon as look at us? And then if he doesn't like it he can be told where to go - anywhere else but here. :e58: |

Re: Crime and Punishment
According to todays "Sun" newspaper, Omar Bakri says "I want to quit Britain...but cannot leave" His excuse is that he has no papers..or anywhere else to go!
In reality, his country of origin will not have him (Syrria) he has already been kicked out of Saudi Arabia and cannot get a Lebenese passport even though his wife is Lebonese:mad: The Sun suggests a lump of rock in the North Atlantic called Rockall presently in dispute by Britain, Ireland Iceland and Denmark. Rockall is 27 yards wide and 80 ft high when the sea is calm which sounds perfect for him :D The question must be asked, if he was not wanted in the middle east, WHY DID WE ACCEPT HIM HERE!!!!! |

didn't see the report you mention, but, a customer of mine has recently started work in the Hospital wing at Preston. She was telling me of the ways that illegal contraband is smuggled into the jail. For example.... Drugs are packed into a tennis ball, hurtled over the fence, to be retrieved by an inmate...the drug being enclosed in a 'Kinder' egg within the aforesaid ball, which is then stuffed up the back passage of the nearest wimp!! The Authorities response is to increase the height of the fences, so now it needs the likes of an England test bowler to get the ball over...narrows down the list of suspects!!! Alternatively, an inmate is given a 'Birthday present ' of something like a 'ghetto blaster', which, surprise, surprise, has had the batteries removed, being substituted for a mobile phone, or, more ominously a small handgun!! Makes me wonder, do we have any security whatever at these places?? Why don't we just leave them on the streets?... In the long run, costs us less, & we can keep an eye on them, & deal as we see fit!!! And I think I know how the majority of us Accywebbers would sort 'em out!! |
Re: Crime and Punishment
Why on earth aren't things like that ghetto blaster checked over by prison staff before the prisoner gets them? Or would that infringe on their human rights?
