Inspector Julian Platt, Head of Accrington Police, said in last week's Observer that crime in the borough is under control. He said "We are meeting all our targets for crime detection and burglaries are at their lowest levels for years. A lot of time and effort is put into making sure that happens."

So you see, we have nothing to worry about!

Oddly though, he omitted to explain what the targets were, or who had set them.
