Memories of youth. Dave Allen RIP.

Many a happy memories of warm winter night’s with the family splitting our sides with this very funny, clever and gentle Irish man. Dave Allen died today.

One of the funniest and cleverest comics ever. He was satirical but it was a gentler form of satire. Who can ever forget his "pope" who spoke like a maffia gangster? I adored him in his hay-day. RIP indeed.

Takes me back some what, but I will echo those thoughts, he was brilliant, very sorry to hear he has passed away today.

:( So sad to hear of this.
Very appropriate sentiment Uncle Mick. :)

I loved his zany sense of humour and he didn't mind poking a bit of gentle fun at himself into the bargain.

will be up there with Eric Morecambe, Tommy Cooper having a real laugh, no-one to touch 'em these days. (well maybe Peter Kay)

Have to agree with you all, used to love watching his shows. Hope they repeat them, if the pc brigade don't step in.

He had both his thumbs, Chav. It was the top of his index finger he was missing. He told a very funny story about how he lost it - all to do with his dad chopping a log and him putting his finger on it etc. I'm quite sure he made it up but it was a good tale. :p

I liked Dave Allen as well,he was funny and it was a shame that he as not been on our screens for many years, may his God go with him. I hope the BBC will do a tribute show.

Remember my Dad saying "watch this chap Linds,he's funny!" and I was dubious because at the time I didn't rate Dad's other faves;Eric Sykes and Tommy Cooper.Thankfully I sat and watched and loved it !

I think when you are young some humour just doesn't appeal though I like both the aforementioned now! {still can't abide frank Spencer though!**
