Don’t be to concerned with it Dillon, send ups like this are often a wake up call that can draw the attention of the uninformed and the fence sitters. The more people who know about the issue and show an interest the better the debate will become and hopefully the people of Accrington will get something they want, as opposed to something shoved at them. Happy Birthday Mate and have a good one…………

I was mad when I read it. Not mad for what the paper says is going to happen, but mad that a topic close to the heart of so many was crudely made fun of. It's a new low in my opinion.

I found it very funny. Many people in the borough have no idea what is going on.
I would put money on the fact that the majority don't care what happens ( not that you would ever get a decent turn out in a vote ).

Further proof that the Accy Obs have a sense of humour - page 18 this week has a full page advert for scooters, motorbikes and quad bikes. I'm surprised it didn't add 'excellent for riding around the hills of Accrington'.

By the way, I know you all accused me of monitoring the site for a while before I joined it but our other local paper certainly does the same.

Surely that is allowed because there is the guest option on the site? Or am I confused and doing something wrong?

I like reading what is on here but don't always feel I have anything worthwhile to add. I only live locally and enjoy what is on here because it is nice to be in a community which has well, a sense of community. It's open for anyone to see, in effect, look at the comments Graham Jones got in the paper on the back of what was written on here. All credit to the papers for having the nouse to dig out a site like this.

And all credit to you all for setting it up.

Oh Gayle, Don't you think that the word "ACCUSED" is just a little strong? No one has made a big issue of it and it does the web site proud that people like yourself check occasionally to see what the populace are saying and thinking. Can I just remind you though of the very first few words you ever up-loaded to the Accy web.........

"Some of you will be aware that I have been viewing this website for the past few weeks. I have shied clear of coming on in person because I did not want to antagonise some of you anymore....."

Of all the people that come onto the site as a guest I would dearly like to know that P. Britcliffe is amonst them so that he knows his standing within the community;)

It's a shame you did shy away from joining us for so long Gayle. I'm sure we'd have been more than happy to discuss things with you on here earlier and we are pleased to have you with us now.

As far as any newspapers "monitoring" us well I think we cottoned on to that when we got madly misquoted last summer regarding the Arndale clock. It's great to know that the site has such an impact on the local press.:)

According to the Observer last August the AccyWeb members saved it from obscurity and ensured that it will be erected elsewhere - unfortunately that was a slight exaggeration. All we did was moan about it's loss. As far as I'm aware it's still in the bowels of the Arndale unrepaired and with nowhere to go.

I agree Noggin. I am in a similar situation, and enjoy logging onto the site ocassionally to see what is going on in the area. I think it's a good thing that the local press checks it out ocassionally. I for one have been scathing recently of the Accy Ob, and it would be nice to think that my comments are heard!

I am glad that the local press look to this site......it would be very interesting if, as a group we had the ability to make the powers that be sit up and listen.
Who knows......our moaning and whingeing might just pay off.
