I dont think it will be the council.
As far as I know HBC does not fund the Police.

Well done for your Award Dean, congratulations.

In response to A-b's attempt at humour, if Dean feels too afraid to post because of spelling, as one of our younger members l think thats a shame. Calling the scouts 'little darlings' also seems off the wall? Lots of us have berated the younger generation's lack of interest in the community at large so it seems a bit off to critisise Dean's scouting.

Thick skinned Rindy, whoses spelling/grammar is sometimes off the wall- but who doesn't give a damn. :)

Seriously though, this probably has more to do with the council wishing to avoid paying the police to shepherd the parade through our busy, bustling town centre. One would think that the council would be falling over themselves to encourage organisations such as the Scouts which help keep the little darlings occupied and out of trouble. Or perhaps it is felt that such a blatant display of nationalism might upset the sensibilities of our ethnic bretheren and so every effort is being made to discourage the parade.

Well said my friend. My spelling and grammer is not always perfect. Often due to getting my fingers tied in nots, it does not and will not stop me expressing my views :D

If by chance theirs a non issue and I’ve picked up the wrong end of the stick, I would like to apologise unreservedly now…………..if not then Dean, neither be worried nor put off by your spelling. It’s something you can work on if theirs a real issue. We have to take in to account that you maybe rushing and making errors or you might just not give a S***.

Just to make a point. Generally I have to write everything in word first because I can’t spell. I do have a problem but it hasn’t really stopped me. I’m 45; I earn a large income sitting at this computer writing important documents. I’ve had to learn other skills to compensate, but I do very well. I think the point I’m making is there is always ways around situations. Never be afraid to seek help and advise and be proud of who you are. We can’t all be eloquent spellers, writers or conversationalist.

can we stick to the point it's not HBC it's the Law it has recently changed and we have to pay any extra 500 quid public liability to march on the road for 30 min

i was wondering if anyone knew who i could write to to get more info on why this is happening.

I bet they wouldn't charge if it was a muslim day march, as Busman said in an earlier post, "Tell the council (H.B.C.??) that it is NOT a march but a demonstration by a minority group. You might get a grant from the community fund then instead of paying out".

It’s just another “Nanny State” paranoia trip, trip being the key word. Public Liability Insurance is requiresd to indemnify HBC should one of you get a little boisterous and trip over a raised kerb stone and hurt yourself, or possibly to prevent undue claims against HBC should one of you be run over by a speeding taxi out side of the Town Hall.

Dean. I beg your forgiveness if I sound condescending, however the truth of the matter is that no local authority wants to take a “normal” risk anymore. Unless that is, you are prepared to cough up a nice lump sum to pay for any lumps that you are your mates might acquire. It’s sad, but it’s true.

maybe but we already have payed our insurance and Public Liability Insurance so why do we have to pay more????

Just a thought, have you considered asking the council??
If I remember rightly, you said that your mum works for HBC, why not get her on the job.

If you think that's harsh what about this one! Over here in Cleveleys we have a group of painters who show off their pictures to the public by hanging them on the seawall near the beach huts,they were told they must now have over £4 million in injury cover just in case of a claim! They have had to get help from private sponsors to carry on! We,ve gone from the "We'll fight them on the beach's" to "We'll sue them on the beach's" it's a sad sighn of the times!:(
