At last some sense, its time we got away from left wing thinking that there should be no winners or losers in sport at schools, there are winners and losers in everyday life and that should also be reflected on the school sports fields

I'm a bit confused with this thread , my old 1960s "secondary modern" Norden at Rishton has been designated a "Sports College" now I know its never been in the catchment area (Gt. Harwood and Rishton) for the brightest brains , but if the Govt. has been against competitive sports whats the point of the 'Sports College' designation ...... is it still just a place to warehouse kids with low academic expectations , somewhere to produce 'fit and able' young guys for the military ?
Seem to remember when I was there the playing fields were directly under the high voltage power lines , are the kids attending this "sports college " still being exposed to this radiation Be interesting to hear from any Accy web users who have children attending to let us know how this 'sports college' designation is working Thanks  |
