Lost medical device in Accrington

Hi all! This is my first post here but I've been referred from the Rossendale forums to post this:

Lost in Accrington, Lancashire on 27th January 2010.

Omron Heartscan HCG 801 (pictured below) in grey pouch. Measures approx 5 x 3 inches.

Owner was also travelling on Rossendale Transport bus numbers 484 to and from Accrington and may have been lost on a bus.

This is specialist equipment for somebody with a heart condition and contains vital information needed for doctors.

If you found it or know anybody who has, please contact Accrington police immediately on 01254 382141.

Also, if you know who else I need to contact other than police, shops visited that day, the Arndale Centre, Town Hall, Accy Vic and public transport PLEASE throw suggestions at me!

Thank you!

Hi It might sound silly since you will have thought of this one, but did you contact the bus people ? It may have been handed in or still be under a seat...Worth a shot.I think charity shops may be out, but you never know........Tony

Hi Squiff ...sorry for your worry.

Have you contacted the doctor/consultant to establish how serious the loss of this equipment is ? Sure they will sort the patient out.

Hi Tony, it may not have been clear but I said in the OP that I've already contacted Rossendale Transport. Somebody else suggested charity shops too but there are SO many of them! I went into the British Heart Foundation shop in Accy but nobody had handed it there. I would have thought somebody would hand in a medical device to either security, the police or a hospital before even considering a charity shop. Even so, it could be anywhere

Hi Kate,

The equipment is my own and I bought it myself - it wasn't paid for or funded by the hospital. I'm under a cardiology team and am going in for surgery later this week to have an implantable device which does a similar job to the one I've lost but that's besides the point. I've lost something (or had it stolen) and want it back. The information stored on it outweighs the monetary value. Doctors have found the stored info invaluable to assess treatment and diagnosis.

Probably a bit late, but it could be in tomorrow's edition, but you could try the Lancashire Telegraph (01254 678 678).

Also Radio Lancashire (01254 262411).

Someone might have found it, and not know it's value to your health, or how to return it to it's owner.

Good luck.

Re: Lost medical device in Accrington

the stupid thing is it is of no monetary value to anyone its not as though people are going to want this as tehir latest toy alongside tehir ipod or there is much demand for them in second hand shops infact teh only place i could imagine it getting sold is on ebay

hopefully somone will realise its lack of worth to anyone except the person who owns it and hands it in

Re: Lost medical device in Accrington

You got to face facts now Squiff .. someone picked it up who may have thought would be of use to them .. then dumped it when they realised wasn't, or .. is still out there somewhere waiting to be found. Sure you have gone over your journey bit by bit thoroughly in your head to think what may have happened.

Where did you usually keep on your person ?

I can't think of anywhere else you could ask.

Hope everything goes well for you anyway. x
