Exclamation ME, a victim of identity theft..oh my

some little scrote has only gone and hacked into my catalogue account, changed my email address, password and my home address AND tried to order something to the sum of £699....to be sent to an address in Aberdeen

just been on the phone to the catalogue company and spoke to the fraud department who are closing my account down...i wouldnt bother but i only owe £64 on it, when i rang them they said that the order had already been put through to the fraud lot because there was unusual activity on my account, i NEVER order anything that costs that much

so just a word of warning....be careful if you order anything online

Re: ME, a victim of identity theft..oh my

Similar thing happend to someone I know.. up to the tune of £3,000.. someone ordered 10 (yes ten) digital vid camera's to be delivered to an address 200 miles away!... when asked why they had let anyone use the account to deliver to an address that was not the account holders they said that sometimes people send gifts to friends..
Seems obvious that someone within these companies are giving out info to thieves.

Not much chance of catching anyone anywhere..if the "plod" can't catch serial rapists and serial killers then not much chance of them sorting out what they call "minor credit fraud"
