Angry Nasty And Anonymous

It is rather sad that this forum has some members who are out and out cowards and also downright nasty with it. I would equate them with someone who creeps up behind you, smacks you on the back of your head with a club and then steals your wallet. Words like “fibre”, “lacking”, “of” and “moral” seem appropriate. The words I would prefer to use would not be allowed.

In response to my postings on the “Two Million And Rising” thread someone, who is probably the one who likes to announce his arrival with a fanfare, awarded me some Karma (the negative kind) accompanied by the message “My god you are boring. Sod off”

And then yesterday someone else, in response to my observations in the “Gay Adoption” thread, unable to contain his/her vitriol also awarded me some Karma with the message “Get back in your iron lung, freak.” What’s the matter? Did my observations strike too close to home for your comfort?

Insulting remarks cause me little discomfort but if similar remarks were directed at someone not so thick skinned and more sensitive than I am, it could upset them quite a lot. Is this what this Karma business is all about – giving people the opportunity to be vicious and nasty anonymously? I accept that, that is not the intention but the opportunity is there.

If anyone finds a post offensive there is a button to ask that the moderators look at the post. Maybe something similar for Karma comments might deter the lily livered cowards making nasty comments currently with impunity.

Failing that isn’t it time that this Karma thing was discontinued?

As a postscript just a word of thanks to - well you know who you are – those who took time out to make some positive awards accompanied by a signed message.

Re: Nasty And Anonymous

You're welcome, to the second, and most biting karma comment.

As I have the most power on the forum, and it couldn't have been from anyone else, I hardly felt the need to sign it. It didn't take Sherlock Holmes to work it out.

I was disgusted that because someone offended you, you felt the need to threaten physical violence to that member. Pathetic.

Anyway, you've had a moan, and stamped your feet, but was it really necessary to start another thread getting all emotional about karma? There are already plenty of threads started by the karma cry babies. Roy's answer to all this is that karma stay, as he enjoys the mischief it makes.

If karma is offensive, you can report it, but this was more tongue in cheek, as I know you don't really live in an iron lung.

Anyway, have a nice day, and keep your chin up...at least I didn't threaten to beat you up.

Blimey, if that Tresure Island still is a dig at you, it's so subtle, it escaped me.

Anymore paranoia, and they'll be sending for the men in white coats.

Tealeaf started a serious thread about two years ago, and called it that.

Re: Nasty And Anonymous

There was a signature, wrongly attributed to Churchill, since removed because Jambutty took offence at it. Hardly a new quote, so all a bit strange.

"Rum, sodomy and the lash"
The only traditions of the Royal Navy are rum, sodomy and the lash. - -- Churchill's assistant, Anthony Montague-Browne said that although Churchill had not uttered these words, he wished he had.

Re: Nasty And Anonymous

All there is now is an avatar of young Jim Hawkins in Treasure Island.

Is that another dig? Because whooosh, it went over my head.

Re: Nasty And Anonymous

Its a power thing..some members think its real!.. I suppose they get a kick out of insulting someone without any come back, it shows a lack of confidence and immaturity.
As for trying to work out who sent the messages, who can be arsed? get real!

Oh and to those members who openly beg for good karma in some threads.. were's your dignity? ponces!

Re: Nasty And Anonymous

I think the power/karma thing is Ok..members that make the most posts should gain status because they have contributed the most, but if someones got a problem with another member, they can post it here, in the open forum or send a PM.

Does the Karma thing actually mean anything?

Starting a thread about getting neg karma though is just like adding fuel to a fire.

Ah now I see what its all about.

I was not going to get involved with this thread, as I am as garinda says one of these,

The only gripe I have against awarding negative karma is not having the guts to sign it! Also this power thing goes to certain members heads, as jambutty said, "some members are not as thick skined as he is" and could find it a reason to desert the forum, thus making the contributions less interesting, I am not advocating that karma should be done away with, but used with discretion, not because you have differing opinions, offensiveness yes. Garinda I am aware that you have 'put your hand up to it', I just wish they all would.
