Sorry ...Had To Laugh At This ...

Not at the accidents though, but at the sheer stupidity.

Taken from AOL news :

A driver who went the wrong way along the M4 for nearly eight miles has been given a two-year suspended jail sentence.
Ali Abdo, 68, originally from Yemen, also received a five-year driving ban at Swindon Crown Court.
The court heard he caused several accidents while driving at 80mph near Swindon in February.
Police managed to flag him down as he drove to Cardiff after picking his wife up from Heathrow Airport.
have your say

Abdo, who pleaded guilty, was described as a nervous driver who had no experience of motorway driving.
The prosecution said he was given the right directions by a cab driver but as he travelled on the M4 towards his home in Cardiff, he became disorientated and decided he was driving in the wrong direction.
He then stopped on the hard shoulder, performed a 'dramatic' U-turn and drove back towards junction 15.
Abdo slowed to 30mph when police started driving alongside him on the opposite carriageway.
They then went on ahead, pulled over, jumped over the barrier on the central reservation and stood on the road signalling him to stop.
He finally pulled over near to Membury Services. But police said he still did not understand what he had done.
His wife Fatma, 38, had to be helped out of the car and taken to Great Western Hospital to be treated for severe shock.

Re: Sorry ...Had To Laugh At This ...

Having been on some of the sort of roads he may possibly have been used to I can understand why he didn't know what he'd done wrong. You have should see some of the roads we drove along and passed roadworks - in one case with a deep trench at least 10ft deep and 6ft wide at the side of us and we even had to cross OVER it at one point on a metal plate!!!! I was convinced that we shouldn't have been there and were in the middle of a construction site but no, that road was still open despite half of it not being there due to pipes being laid!!!

Wonder if his young wife was bending his ear at the time? It does begger belief though that this sort of incedent happens and on a pretty regular basis.

She probably knew they were going the wrong way but him being a man probably wasn't listening to her.

Re: Sorry ...Had To Laugh At This ...

i must admit although taking teh pass plus course after passing my test when i was coming home from liverpool one time it was very confusing and we nearly ended up going down the wrong way of a slip road which had lights and stuff making it look like an ordinary junction

if you dont know a certain area it can get confusing especialy if its not signed up properly
