well besides getting pulled off the bus by mick ... there was a group of people .. 3 of them ... who were handing out leaflets. Nowt unusual in that .. its quite often you will see people handing out leaflets for a new takeaway, an event that's going to be held, special offer in a shop etc. Well this group of people were handing out leaflets that said 'Proud to be british' in big letters and very colourful they were to ... now when I get handed these leaflets normally chuck em in my bag and go in the grey bin when I get home (recycling). The headlines of it made me look further down to see what it was from .. it was the British National Party ... I did an about turn and gave him the leaflet back and said no thanks I wouldn't want to taint my recycling bin ..and walked off. This was on the path between the market and wilkies close to the entrance to the market hall. Another one appeared next to my bus stop and tried to hand me a leaflet and I said politely no thanks and tried to get on the bus which mick then pulled me off. Anyway we stood talking for a while .. and I said lets move out of the bus shelter .. and we were stood next to the bus shelter.

Along came another bloke with camera and started filming the blokes handing out these leaflets. First he told them were to stand and he stood in the middle of the walkway between the bus shelters and the market .. which isn't very wide in the first place. Well these blokes became a bit more active in trying to hand out these leaflets ....even to a couple of Asian lads .. a lot of people were saying no they didn't want them but they still tried to get them to take them. Me and mick were nattering away but because of where we were standing we could see what was going on.

Thing is these are the kind of leafleters that give the rest a bad name. If someone says no they don't want it then say sorry and carry on and bug someone else.

by the way this was about 1.30pm so if you were walking around the market/bus station area at that time there is a chance you may just be on video ...

Perfectly fine idea, why then, do they find it so hard to leave the rest of us to enjoy just that, without their interference?

it sounds like they where standing in a public space handing out flyers.

I don't see a problem as long as they where not harassing people, but that rule should apply to any individual or group.

Well . . Yes . . I suppose I do . . But only after twenty vain and failed attempts on my part to get a word in edge ways when they inevitably and repeatedly get the wrong end of the stick. The really annoying thing is that they are polite even unto phone call death. At that point, I just accept total defeat and give up . . No good banging your head against a brick wall is it ?

William, I just liked your post, I think anyone that fails to end one of these phone calls is just too polite to be true, but deserves to be liked.

if someone collecting for something liek cancer research by law is not allowed to shake their collection tin as it then becomes begging surely people thrusting unwanted opinions in your face shoudl be harrassment.Maybe they should stand there and politely wait for people to take a leaflet..

just thinking like

mind you it dosnt half naff em off when you make a paper plane and throw it back at em

then thats littering
