Re: St Georges Day

Stanta Clause's Saints Day is actuially the 6th December - St. Nicolas. In Germany, austria and here in South Tyrol, the kids get presents from St. Nicolas (Santa Claus) on this day.
I don't think there is a St. Rudolf's day, but I'll check.

Re: St Georges Day

Do they celebrate 25th December as well - or just get their pressies early?

Re: St Georges Day

On the 24th evening baby Jesus brings pressies to the little Children, so they get pressies twice! Alright for some eh? Though I must say they don't spend as much as Xmas as we do in England, the children usually get one Christmas present. On St. Nic's day, they may get a couple of things, but it's not as commercial as in the UK.
Just to top things off though, the three wise men bring them sweets on Jan 6th (Epiphany) - like Easter early!

Re: St Georges Day

I agree we probably do spend too much over here at Christmas. And Easter, I used to get a couple of Easter Eggs at the most, which I think is enough. But a woman at work says her two kids get about 15 eggs each from relatives! I think that is far too much. I would rather Aunties & Uncles gave them money rather than all the chocolate - I think.

What has Easter or Christmas got to do with St Georges Day?

It's obviously not politically correct to discuss St Georges Day in England you may upset someone and we can't have that can we?

Re: St Georges Day

And what exactly is tripe about it Baz? oh wait a minute, is it because it is full of hard evidence regarding the state of England? After all, you're not allowed to support the English majority nowadays.

The site is full of links, news and FACTS. if you think that is tripe perhaps you should put your head back in the sand for your fellow Liberals.

Yeah like the link if you disagree we will delete it!!!!!!!!!!! sounds like the Nazis or of course just being british!!!!!!! dont see many of you fighting for your country or is it only if the ex empire is being invaded you will stand up and fight? sounds very zenophobic, and of course you wer'nt picked on in school for being different.............:moon:

Re: St Georges Day

The problem is too many people just bury their heads in the sand and say or do nothing, I myself am an Englishman and all I want is to be able in some small way to celebrate an English day in my own country without some Politically Correct nutter telling me I can't because it may upset somebody.
