Londoners are always going on about the wonderful East Enders (people not programme) so I thought I'd be a wonderful West Ender. OK, maybe I'm not all that wonderful but I am from West End. :)

Re: What does your name mean?

I'm me cos I live in a hat making town, stockport was one, hence the museum, and the footy team. london was another, and the midlands one was ather stone.
They made hats for all over the world. but the last factory here has now closed. aldi decided they wanted it to build a supermarket that looks like a cow shed so it got demolished. :( all we have is one case of hats in the under threat local museum. The factories were huge and served by road rail and canal.
Mercury was used during the manufacture of felt hats, and the constant breathing in of these fumes made the hatters go mad, some say that this is where the saying mad as a hatter comes from. mad as in losing the plot slightly, not mad as in angry or mad as in hyperactive.

lewis carroll created a character of the mad hatter, although I don't think he ever actually got called the mad hatter by anyone. He did say a lot of silly things though and wasnt to be taken to serious.

No people - I don't make shakes.
Mine's after a very very silly Oasis song that I happened to be listening to at the time of signing up.

Re: What does your name mean?

Mine came from when I started working for Barclays. The logons we have at work are the first 6 characters of your surname plus your initial. Anyway, at the time I was on the internet and there is another Ian Entwistle(a physics lecturer in Manchester) who had grabbed most of the Ian Entwistle logons at places like Hotmail etc. I found that no matter where I go entwisi is available so I stuck with it. So scary as it sounds, if you find entwisi anywhere else on the net its always me!

Ian

Re: What does your name mean?

mine is a play on my last name and also because im part irish and my screenname on aohell is shillelagh and that came about because when i joined aohell my name had gone and every name i tried i couldnt use it had already gone. My mum had been playing her records and shillelagh & shamrocks was on the top so i put shillelagh in and thats the story behind my name!
