I saw a bit of it tonight. Who is that one who goes from one to another telling tales on what the other has said about them? That is just so childish.

Don't like Big Brother, so don't watch it ... ' course have heard on the news re. the controversey .. as Margaret states .. is this the only big thing that is going on in the world !!?

Watched 5 mins. last night and Jade is extremely rude, however, what is it about Shilpa (beautiful though she is) that made my skin crawl within one minute. Smug, manipulating other peoples reactions to her, and patronising ... would not wish to spend a great deal of time with her .. nothing to do with the colour of her skin ... just a woman gut thing.

interestin note here to make amends by c4/endemol

PLEASE NOTE: The media attention generated by Celebrity Big Brother this week is likely to produce a higher than usual number of votes for the Friday night eviction.

On this occasion Channel 4 has decided that all of the profits made from the voting lines will be donated to the charities sponsored by the housemates.

Of course she hasn't.

Anyone can be racist, colour or race is neither here nor there.

It's always the biggest cop out when some one says they aren't racist because they have a black friend.

The most blatent racism I have witnessed was by Indians in East Africa.

This is about bullying, and nothing to do with racism, as Shilpa herself said tonight.

I agree with what you said apart from that bit - there was a point on this forum when people who have friends of different races were accused of being racist when they pointed out that fact. It's a bit of a damned if you have and damned if you haven't situation.

I was so mad when they showed the nominations tonight asnd no numbers, and that it wasn't until 10.15 that C4 decided we could vote.

Tomorrow will be so interesting to see what the thicko makes of all this when she comes out.

To the critics of the programme, who think this is an unworthy news item, I think you are wrong. If it opens up a discussion, whjch it clearly has, of issues like bullying, and racism, in my book that's a good thing for our fragile society.

Totally, totally disagree.

So I can never be accused of homophobia because of my sexuality?

Of course I bloomin' could, just as anyone, of any race or ethnic background can be racist, despite who they are, or who their friends are.

That's not exactly the same thing that I meant. People were told that saying they had friends of different races automatically made them a racist.

So if someone accuses me of being homophobic and I say that I'm not, and add that I have a couple of friends who I know are gay and treat them no differently to other friends who are staright does that automatically make me homophobic because I've said that or because I have gay friends? I have other friends who are and always have been single so I haven't a clue what their sexul preferences are nor do I care as it doesn't matter to me one way or t'other. It would only matter if I was single and fancied one of them but I couldn't stand a chance because I was the wrong gender.

Like I said earlier, what Jade said in her mad rant, was pandering to national sterotypes, with regard to Shilpa's surname, but not in my racist.

As for the question of the French, that would be rude, bad mannered, and ignorant, if those remarks were directed at the French, or any other national group. But do remember Jade is ignorant, bad mannered, and ignorant.

That's the problem with not having seen all of it but I still ask the same question - is it racist because Jade is a different colour to Shilpa? Would the same comments have been non-racist, all of them, whatever they were, if they had been directed at a French/German/Austrian/Belgian/Irish/Scottish person of similar colour to Jade? If so then maybe they were bullying, bitchy or downright nasty rather than racism.

Bullying is unacceptable whoever it is directed against.

Yes that's why I said it just shows her up and shows her in a bad light. All that likeable dimwit stuff which people found endearing has a darker side too when an ignorant person is in the presence of someone who makes them feel inadequate.

When she was originally in BB she was hated for just the sort of attitude she's shown now. At that time the person she disliked, and tried to bully was a white, middle class girl called Sophie. She used the same tactics on her as she has Shilpa.

The babyish act won the public over, hence her fame afterwards.

Not so now. Her journey is over.

I'm probably not explaining myself properly. Yes if somebody says or does something which is racist and then defends themselves by saying they can't be racist because they have black friends or a mixed race grannie then of course that's nonsense.

But when someone who hasn't said or done anything racist enters into a discussion about racial stereotyping and comments that they have friends of different races it is wrong to accuse that person of racism because "racists always claim they have black friends" which has been said on this forum and which I think is nonsense.

I have friends of different races as most people here know from a previous discussion but simply having a mixture of friends doesn't make me racist any more than having gay friends makes me homophobic. It was a twisted logic which was nonsensical.

It isn't racist. Full stop.

I think the dimwits who phoned in to complain that it was, are naive to the real world and it's problems, and will have undermined real acts of racism that do occur.

Agreed, people with friends that may come from different ethnic or racial backgrounds aren't racist just because of that fact, no. Phew.:p

If you want a thread moved, pm Mick and suggest it. He'll decide what he thinks best, and has done it before when asked.

It does seem that these serious issue, albeit arising from a silly programme, does deserve to be taken seriously, and not here amongst the fun and silly stuff.

There was some comment about oxo cubes and a very general statement made along the lines of "everybody knows you never use more than one oxo cube" - surely it depends on the quantity of the dish you are 'seasoning'? One lonely oxo cube could go undetected in a humungous big pan of stew but one little diddy pan and it could be overwhelmed.

As well as Jade, Danielle has also been dropped from being the face of an anti-bullying campaign, as well as losing the six figured contract fee to advertise for a motorcycle insurance company.

Although I suppose I do feel a lttle cheated Jade won't be able to see the public reaction to her eviction, I do think Channel 4 have probably acted wisely, it could have turned very nasty.

We must remember that Jade isn't the Devil incarnate, she is just an ignorant young woman, who will hopefully now just fade back into obscurity.

My dear Mrs Pilkington, I am inclined to agree. If feel we have reached the bottom of the barrel scarped it clean and we are hopefully about to ascend and remerge into a world where the likes of Jade, Jake and her mother are no longer made celebrities, the same goes for the failed pop stars and idiots with tits who shag footballers.

A celebrity is someone who through hard work and unselfish deeds rises to the forefront of the public eye and wins our admiration. Let’s get back to a common sense Britain and put these slappers too work.

Is it racist? No, I don’t think so at this stage, it is however bulling and these people deserve to be chastised and punished by the British Public.

It's the British tabloid media visualised, Margaret.
They bring you to the top as long as you have something to offer (the cheeky cockney gal who meant well) and knock you down to the ground as soon as you say or do something controversial.
As Doug rightly highlighted, in the past the term 'celebrity' was used to brand people with great talent to convey a message to the public. It's pretty meaningless now.
Which perhaps may be a good thing.

I hope it is Jade that gets evicted tonight, I think the fact that ch4 have pulled the audience will hit her quite hard, she thrives on publicity and the adoration of the public, cant wait to see her face when questioned.

Mind you, at least I pole danced with her.:D

That's a little cruel Gary. I now she is very thin but you could have used a real pole instead of Kate. You may have hurt her feelings. :D

Think you said exactly the same thing two years ago, when I first happened to mention it.

You need a new script writer.:D

Looking back over this series of CBB, the first person who mentioned race, or ethnicity, was Jermaine Jackson. He told Shilpa he was glad that when she entered the house he wasn't the only 'person of colour'. He has also refered to Jade and her Mum as 'white trash'.

I wonder how many of the people who say Big Brother is rubbish, will just happen to tune in tonight?

Purely to see what all the fuss is about of course.;)

Jade Goody is a silly girl, simple as that, but at least she has apologized and from what I've seen she shows real remorse for her actions. I don't think she should face a public hanging!

well i think danielle knows shes been as much of a bully and after seeing jade take things so seriously and apologise to shilpa tonight she also felt the need to try and suck up to shilpa ..personally i genuinly think jade is sorry for her (ignorance) but one wonders if this has just lost her everything...hope not..

I felt extremely sorry for Jade whilst watching that. Typical of our society at this time, mention the rascism word and everything gets blown out of proportion!

She may have shown remorse for people thinking that her problems with Shilpa were racist, that doesn't take away from the fact that she is a nasty, thick as pig sh*t, bully.

The public have seen through her act, and she's about to be evicted.

The fans of Big Brother always detest those that try to bully, and bitch behind people's back. From Grace last summer to Nasty Nick, they never win.

I really hope Shilpa wins. All this silliness aside, she's the only one to show any strength of character. The others have been Jade's little puppies, or have been happy to sit on the fence, showing themselves to be the wet blankets that they are. I could not have sat there, and watch as someone was constantly exclued, and made to feel uncomfortable, and yes bullied.

I agree about the racist thing. I don't think she is, as I've said many times.

I don't feel sorry for her being evicted for being a nasty cow.

The programme that made her, has broken her.

No one forced her to go back into BB. She thought it would help her 'career', as her first appearance did.

Shows over Jade.

garinda 19-01-2007 20:50

Re: The whole Jade/shilpa stuff...

If it wasn't for BB asking leading questions, which made her realise something was wrong, she would have been sat on that sofa, sure she was staying in, and that she was more popular than Shilpa, who was bound to be evicted.

There would have been no appology, and she would not have thought she'd done anything wrong. She'd have thought she was just being 'Jade' for the viewers, and that the British public would still be charmed by her.

Wrong.

Yeah the programme makers always say they never let housemates know what is happening in the outside world, but they have let them know this time that something about their treatment of Shilpa has caused a stir. Hence the arse licking appologies.

Too late girls.

i loved seeing that smirk on jermaine's face when jade got told she was evicted...

jades crew must really b crapping it now though thinkin what the hell shilpa seems really popular - expect dani and jo to become her bosum buddies

it was just hilarious seeing her grovel

i mean i think in her own mind danielle was probably thinkin wow jade's in she's such a popular person - better do what she's doin and then i can ride in her slipstream

Re: The whole Jade/shilpa stuff...

Remember Jade is the girl who asked Jermaine Jackson if he was 'proper black'.

The look on his face was priceless.

Perhaps she'll now take her millions and move abroad.

Perhaps to East Angular (sic).:D

Another one we'll have agree to disagree on Rind ;) We're all guilty of being nasty little cows at one time or another. Jades just had the misfortune of doing it infront of quite a few million people. To me that just sums up how 'real' she actually is, no airs and graces for the cameras, she just says it as she sees it. She can't blamed for the other little lemmings in there that hung on her every word.

Disagree.

She's played the game before. She knew what she was doing. She thought people would see the poor girl from a tough background, would had made it big by being feisty and dim, standing up against the posh bint.

I didn't see that, and neither do the majority of people who voted her out.

Wrong.

can't say I've ever been charmed by her.. i've always thought she's an idiot and I don't feel sorry for her being evicted, but to be branded as a racist when you are not is just as unfair as her bullying.
so what now?.. do the british public turn into the bullies?

Tinkerbelle 19-01-2007 21:29

Re: The whole Jade/shilpa stuff...

Well I don't think she's any different from when she was in the house the first time round, she was a gobby, dim bint then too and I remember her regularly having to apologise for drunken arguments.

I think we all know most people have voted her out because she's been branded a racist.

She's not a racist.

It's the dimwits who called in to complain it was a racist attack, who should be shunned.

You don't know that. Most people I know voted her out because she is a nasty bully, who is so full of herself that she thought she was invincible.

Tinkerbelle 19-01-2007 21:39

Well as it was the racist slur that was making the front pages of the papers and had the politicians talking and not her bullying, I think it's a fair enough assumption

What did she mean by is Jermaine 'proper black'?

I think she meant were both his parents black.

Ah but they could both be black and one of his grandparents or great grandparents be white, or brown even.

Willow.. the girl is a lump of wood..but in her defence she has been brought up/has lived in inner south London..a place of many nations.. it is not unusual for peolple you meet in that area to be of mixed race, its a stupid question to ask someone who is obviously black, but some do have some white people in the family.. I'm saying it is not an uncommon question, usually between black people, so for Jade to ask does seem silly but would not be taken as offence.

True, it's a wonder he didn't ask him what part of Africa Indiana is in - or maybe she thinks it's in India.

Jade herself is mixed race isn't she? Maybe that inspired her question.

I could be wrong, I hadn't been watching it up until recent events  Was the question not asked while she questioning him about Micheal? She asks him "If his mother was white?" Maybe she thought Micheal got all their mothers white genes

According to her agent, Jade has already sold her story for many hundreds of thousands of pounds.

When will we learn?
