The whole Jade/shilpa stuff...

stepping aside from all this you know whats going to happen now

once jade comes out she's gonna get snowed under with offers from programme makers to do a "whale out of water" documentary of her time in india living with certain indian families etc...

and then as part of that she's going to break into bollywood and star as the annoying friend of hte lead female

damn u goody damn u!!

I think the baby act, with the intelligence of a naive five year old, is wearing a bit thin.

I think there'll be a backlash against her. The public can see how nasty she is being.

Her fairly long fifteen minutes of fame might be up.

Five thousand? I heard it was two hundred on the news last night.

Pathetic.

Bullying yes, but it has nothing to do with Shilpa's race.

If Shilpa carries on acting with the same dignity she has shown so far she'll come out the winner.

I always judge the public's latest feelings on the sound of the crowd at eviction nights, and the audience on Russel Brand's Big Mouth. Shilpa is currently popular, Jade isn't.

Its pathetic. These girls are quite plainly jealous of the fact that Shilpa is so beautiful. The lads are saying they dont like the bullying, well then they need to say something about it. Stick up for the girl!!!!

They are just making up excuses now to beat her down, because they cant come up with a genuine reason to pick on her. I mean if they were so bothered about the chicken not being cooked then, get off your fat arses and do it yourself. A message to Jo, what chicken of that size have you ever cooked for 3 hours (well 2hrs 50mins to be exact) In the end the chicken had been in for about 2hrs and Danielle still said that there was blood in it. I dont think so honey!!!

Re: The whole Jade/shilpa stuff...

For someone that actually watches the live feeds [yeh get called sad:p ] can say that media hype of the racist thing is exaggerated & one sided. Shilpa is getting as H described it as school playground stuff [if u remember those days it only takes something slight to be ousted out] Shilpa has made a rod for her own bat, by seeing herself as too important [nowt wrong with that but ott mm], she started this by bossing the others around & dictating cooking the food & desciding who & what to eat & prepare [this was last week & when jackie was there], also she has put herself above the other girls [so in which has caused the bitching & grouping together in rebellion] BEFORE U ARGUE DO I AGREE WITH BULLYING NO I DONT, mearely explaining the dynamics thats been unfolding on viewing it.

Yes i do think Danielle has a problem with shilpa because shilpa is a stronger lady than she is that only being famous for Teddy's girlfriend dont mount to much & weaker on celeb status & jelously maybe, who i think is the main back stabber & cant hold her own in much, needing a crew behing her, to be fair to Jade she did [& is the only one] to actually sit down with Shilpa & tell her to her face the problems she & her have with one another last night, but Jade hssnt the maturity to keep it to that thus yet talks behind back to helping Danielle to fuel & i think Jo is on the bandwagon basically scared of the other 2 keeping with the in crowd! Three very niaeve women with nowt better to do with their insecurity!

BUT the thing is i think Shilpa is very clever as to whats going on & is manipulating this also to her advantage upon her convo's with Jermaine & Dirk seriously indicating this aka nominations & public vote, hey let the bitches show themselves up encouraged by Shilpa & hey presto who gets the sympathy:rolleyes: & this has been the verge of shipla's discussions with jermaine & dirk {who i think are niaeve also] Dont underestimate Shilpa;)

Got this one well worked out hehehe:D Notice no creed/colour or race issue in my overview

In the events of the outright isolation of Shilpa & the terms of bullying & childishness should be addressed by Big bro - no one should be bullied & tollerance should be encouraged also told to grow up!!!!

Depends on the size of the chicken:rolleyes:

The big fresh chicken i had for xmas cooking one xmas took 0ver 4hrs as instructions till done to perfection, so if it was a big chicken [as to size of group] then it could well of possibly been a bit or so bloody in the middle if only 2hrs cook on it:rolleyes:

Re: The whole Jade/shilpa stuff...

I watched it last night and am just gearing up for another session tonight.

Definitely bullying involved - started by Jackiey but carried on by the three witches.

Dippy Danielle is the worst example of what happens when dim bints drink too much (I give her relationship with Teddy two weeks after the end of the show after he's watched her behaviour), Jade is trying to hide her bullying by saying she's just 'honest' (always a cop out) and Jo is naive and I think she'll be in for a big shock afterwards - I'm hoping that she redeems herself tonight.

In all of this though, don't forget that Jack is the one egging Jade on quietly from the sidelines, plus he has made a few fairly racist comments himself.

Jermaine has noticed the racism and bullying, as have Ian, Dirk and Cleo but for some reason none of them have spoken out.

I'd need to see transcripts of the alleged racism before I could possibly agree.

Shilpa's cooking skills were questioned, and she was rudely called a dog, behind her back. Also agree that her name was constantly mispronounced by one housemate, but so was bloody Ken Russell's, as was Dirk Benedict's name by Shilpa herself.

Is that racist?

Is it f**k!

This kind of over sensitive, liberal clap trap, takes away some of the gravitas from when real racism does occur, and the very real problems it brings.

I say this as someone who as sixteen year old received death threats, for publicly standing up and shaming the intelligence of the local leader of the National Front.

You've missed a fair bit then. Jo and Danielle have been imitating her accent - and not in a jokey way with her as she has with Jade. They've been doing it behind her back to insult her, exaggerating her accent in an attempt to undermine her. Danielle has made comments about Indian culture in the context that we are better than them. Jack has also been saying some very ambiguous things.

While that might not be seen as straight racism by some people and it is almost probably the product of ignorance, jealousy and bullying, the fact is they are still using the girls race to insult and undermine her.

That's what's getting up some people's noses.

I've missed very little actually. Immitating someone's accent, is in my book, not racist. It's bullying, pure and simple. After all Shilpa herself has on more than one occasion took the micky out of Jade's appalling Mockney Estuary English.

Is that to be seen as prejudiced against the mentally challenged?

Re: The whole Jade/shilpa stuff...

My complaint was not specifically about racism, it was about bullying. I felt, and still feel, that Big Brother has encouraged a culture of bullying in the house - ironically what I did not complain about was them actually showing the bullying, I think that it should be shown if that's what happened rather than anything being brushed under the carpet.

Yes, I agree it's very easy to play the race card in situations like this but I do think that a culture clash is partly the reason for Shilpa being singled out. However, I think the over riding factor is class, of which Shilpa has in bucket loads and Jade has none.

garinda 17-01-2007 22:42

Re: The whole Jade/shilpa stuff...

Pesonally I abhor people's use of any label that could undermine very serious issues. Especially as I think it undermines what can be very serious hate crimes, be it racism, false accusations of rape, sexism or homophobia.

Two examples to illustrate my point.

1/ A few years ago a mixed group of friends and myself, were leaving a gay club in Brixton, south London. We were chased by a group of thugs wielding baseball bats, shouting abuse, relating to the place we'd just left. One of our party was beaten, and he needed hospital treatment.

Was that an act of homophobia?

Yes it was.

Would it still have been so, if it was the same group leaving a straight club, and without the verbal taunts?

No, it would just have been an act of mindless thuggery.

2/ Recently I was asked to help choreograph a fashion show. Quite a big deal for me to agree to help, as I never know until the day if my health will allow me to do something. I turn up, at the appointed time, looking forward to be able to do something useful for a change, and at which my fashion background would be an advantage.

Ten minutes after my arrival I was told my services would no longer be required, as some of the Muslim women had a problem with me. Off I went, tail between my legs. Truth be told, feeling a little down and rejected.

Was this an act of racism, sexism, or indeed homophobia?

No of course not, it was simply a waste of my time. Simple as.

In tonight's Big Brother, Shilpa herself asked if the treatment she was receiving was racist, and concurred that it was.

I am still of the same opinion that the bullying she has been subjected to in the programme isn't racist. This is what tends to happen. The victim starts to look for reasons why this is happening to them. Bullying happens very often for no apparent reason, but in this case I do agree it is more about a cultural and educational clash, than it is about race.

The whole show seemed to be summed up for me tonight, when Danielle asked if Jack could read, when he'd been asked to re-do the shopping task. Baically these people, Jade, Danielle, Jo, and Jack are unintelligent, and jealous of a more balanced, successful, and happy person.

Throughout all of this furore, Shilpa as acted with dignity, and remarkable calmness. Whatever the outcome of the show, she will come out of this a winner.

Rumour on the grapevine, though I don't know if it is true, is that in this week's nominations, both Shilpa and Jade will face the public vote.

I think one young lady from Bermondsy, who was taken to the nation's heart, because of her naive innocence, is in for one big wake up call, in light of her recent behaviour. The thing that made her, might well break her.

It looks like my mole was right, and that Shilpa and Jade will go head to head in the public vote.

Just showing their ignorance.

It made me think of that old TV program "Love Thy Neighbour" - the laughter wasn't because people agreed with the racist bigotry of the Jack Smethurst character and were laughing at the neighbour - the joke was on the racist because of his stupidity and the viewers were laughing with the neighbour at the bigot. Unfortunately the public at large were misjudged and insulted by the 'powers that be' when they were accused of being racist for enjoying the program.

What I'm trying to say is that given enough rope people will hang themselves without any help from officialdom. In this case I think Jade & co have done just that.

I think that its all getting out of control you dont argue over a stockcube. However everyone and the press are thinking its a racial attack. Who knows? What do you all think?

'Everyone' doesn't think its a 'racial attack'.

I dont. Lots of the press doesn't, and nor does every single caller who phoned into the radio phone in I listened to last night.

i dont think it is racial, i just think its jealousy, shilpa is pretty and the other 3 are dogs, its a class thing too, gobby jade could never ever be like shipa

Re: The whole Jade/shilpa stuff...

I dont think its racial but I watched it last night the first time in over a week and was disgusted by the behaviour of Jade, Dani and Jo, I think Dani and Jo are following Jade's lead and I think Jade is over reacting for the camera's, she's certainly not doing herself any favours and I think she'll be booed when she comes out. It really was schoolgirl behaviour, what I found unbelievable was Dani saying the argument was the best thing of the day, then in the diary room saying she thought the argument was awful, thought it was great that BB reminded her of some of the comments that she made only for her to not remember, proved really that she's as thick as Jade. Dont think any of them are going to be popular when they come out, its certainly not going to kick start a career which lets face it is the reason they are in there. I think Shilpa over reacted about the stock cube, but like everything else BB only show you the bits they want you to see and even if you watch it live they mute so much of it that you dont always know whats really going on, what I do know though is the ratings will definately go up now there's so much controversy.:)

Which is more worrying, that people think Britain is full of rascists or even worse it's full of people as stupid and ugly as Dim Goodey.

No matter what you say though who is most at fault for all this, those taking part or those who watch it and give it the time of day. If nobody watched it then it would be taken off air and replaced by hopefully something useful on the lines of how to chop your head off in one easy lesson, which would be far more entertaining ( I'll duck now )

I think your right Dave, I think by watching it, it makes BB think its good tv, I'd like to see Jade taken out, she's awful, common as muck

As stated before, I watch BB, and enjoy it.

To me it's a social experiment in how people from different backgrounds react to being confined in an artifical world, and how they are forced to get on....or not, as in this case. Some people show themselves to be suprisingly strong, others weak, and others are content to sit on the fence. A bit like a microcosm of the larger world outside.

I'll agree watching Big Brother is a fairly passive experience, but then so is watching lots of spectator sports, like watching a load of well paid nellies prance about at Turf Moor.:D

My mum and brother were watching BB while I was on the comp and all I herd for around 25 minutes was Jade Goody's hauntingly shrill cockney thickwit voice bellowing from the television like a message from lucifer.
Someone shoot her now.

Carphone Warehouse has now withdrawn sponsorship of the programme with immediate effect. Anyone got a suggestion for a new sponsor.... Diacalm perhaps ?? :D :D

FEMIDOM could sponsor the show seen as its full of tw*ts and enjoyed by knobs :D

or

DUREX - you have to be a prick to be in it :D

ah its reet pathetic!!! jades not being racist! some of the stuff shilpa is saying is racist, like calling the UK names and stuff, people are treating her like a queen, she doesnt need that!

Re: The whole Jade/shilpa stuff...

Shilpa Shetty has class.
Jade Goody has a workout video and the IQ of a toenail.

I wonder which one is being racist.

Re: The whole Jade/shilpa stuff...

when i first heard about all this i thought somone had called jackson a nigger or somthing or a black bas*ard

turns out nothing at all racist has been said

all these idiots protesting in teh streets about racism want to go home and actualy listen to whats been said then go back and protest about nasty comments because thats all they were

mind you 99% of people that watch the show are sad cases to start with so any excuse to grab the phone and reach out an touch somone probably brightened their day

i allowed %1 grace for those that watch it who i think are all right and for those who have more karma power than me :D

So Shilpa has been making racist comments about the UK has she? In that case she's gone down in my estimation. I had been of the opinion that she was a far better person than Jade Goody but if she's descended to that level perhaps there's no difference in them after all.

how can jade be racist, when shes part black herself! her dad was mixed race!

WillowTheWhisp 18-01-2007 18:37

Re: The whole Jade/shilpa stuff...

I know someone who is of mixed race, most of the mix being of African origin and she is very racist against people from the Indian subcontinent. Black and Indian may not be white but that doesn't mean they are the same race. Then there used to be a Indian woman up the road who took great pains to point out that she wasn't "one of them" - meaning Pakistani. Racism comes in many forms, not just from white people.
