Re: Friendliest town?
i agree with ya there tinks when you say most are there workin etc..but a lot of em are students as well so prob the locals dont get a chance to be friendly because they dont get a look in lol.. soz mick :D
I think it may explain b/pool ,tourism etc,..also... I will say one thing though and it is the one thing i miss about being back in ossy/accy people over there arent affraid or calling a spade a spade ...I grew up not being affraid of speaking my mind and yes it has got me into trouble sometimes ..but why not tell it like it is ...to me im proud of my roots and if folk dont like it ..ummm dont move to ossy / accy lol.. |
Re: Friendliest town?
friendliest place i have ever come across is old algiers across the river from new orleans which for my money is the friendliest city.

Re: Friendliest town?
the town in alabama that the top gear presenters were seemed to be mightily unfriendly!

 Aaaahhh Thankyou cherokee, I'm glad someone else knows what I'm on about! I know what you mean about Blackpool, I lived on St Chads Road helping out at a hotel then moved to Vance Road. It's similar but not as un-friendly as Preston. The lovely gossipy women that run some of the hotels make up for some of the miserable ones :) |
Re: Friendliest town?
I think a lot of Prestoners don't live in Preston itself these days. They tend to live in Leyland or Chorley. That might not make sense but I know what I mean :D

Re: Friendliest town?
LOL! I think I know what you mean. :)
I was telling Flashy earlier though it was also the neighbours. I lived in a block of flats on Bairstow street and going out of the property would often meet other people from the flats on the stairs and would often try to exchange pleasantries with a polite "morning" which was always met with silence and a frown. On the street exactly the same. In town everyone just sooo busy, ignorantly knocking into you and not apologising. Sorry, but politeness doesn't cost a thing. |
Re: Friendliest town?
Sorry folks but i have to agree with tinks A lot of them in Preston are miserable sods exept mummiboo and family;)
why do you think we moved over here people in accy are a lot more friendly AND helpfull they have time to stop and talk, in preston and i think most big towns its all rush . I must be ill agreeing with tinks on something:eek: I would never move back there I have made more true friends here in Accy in the last 10 years than i ever did in Preston |
Re: Friendliest town?
Oh hallelujah :bow8: Thankyou Mick I just saw you'd posted in this thread and thought "oppps I'm in trouble now"!!!
I've met lovely mummiboo at Annes birthday meet and often wonder how she manages to stay there, she's definitely not a miserable sod. It really did get me down when I lived there. The only nice person I met while I lived there was my GP, Mr Mayor I think he was called ...... he was obviously an out of towner :D |
