i have loads of friends, but recently it seems i know who my true friends are, friends who stick by you and are always there to help....WRONG...its ok when they want something, they need to talk or a shoulder to cry on, i'm ALWAYS there for them, but as soon as you are in need of something they arent interested, either that or they turn your problem into something thats wrong with them and you end up feeling worse about whats wrong with YOU.

ive recently also found out which so called mates like to slag you off behind your back, say one thing to your face then call you to high hell when your not there...

i can now see that i have a select few who i can actually call MATES


has anyone else ever had this 'problem'?

lol shut it, i'm far from paranoid (the tablets help) see so called mates dont know you talk to there mates, so they never know that you know they've been talking about you :D (i know what i mean...in mi head) ;)

I'm totally with you on this one! I have a few "friends" that do this! But i guess that these people are just aquaintences (sic), because in my opinion friends wouldn't do this.

Saying all this though, when they need me again i'm there for them once more, however many times I tell myself I won't be.

I wouldn't worry about it all that much Flashy, just stick to the people that you know are TRUE friends.

Most of us are probably in the same boat. I have 2 or 3 friends that I would class as true friends, several who I would class as mates and dozens who are just acquaintances. The 2 or 3 true friends that I have I would do anything for and I know that they would do the same for me. I don't see them as often as I'd like but when I do, it's like I saw them yesterday.

I did have a friend who I thought was a true friend but she turned out not to be so I cut all ties with her.:(

yeah i know what ya mean, i have maybe one or two true friends............and one of them is gonna get shouted at if she doesnt come over to mine soon....she never ever comes over, not seen her at my house for 4 years.............YES THATS RIGHT ...YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE ;)

I agree with you Lettie, i have loads of mates but I have a friend I have known since Nursery, and one who i've known all my life, her Mum and my Mum are best friends aswell.

The first one only lives in Accy, but I don't see all that often. She lives with her boyfriend in a pub now, she also works full time. I have Harry and work aswell, so we just dont get to see each other as often as we like but I know shes a true friend and will and always has been there for me and vice versa.

The second one I can't get rid of!!! See her at least 3 times a week!! LOL!! :D

I have loads of people I call friends but as Lettie put it probably would class them as mates

There's always gonna be times when you wonder who you can rely on, but it all comes clear when you hit a crisis, who comes running to your aid and who runs the other way :eek:

I'm pretty damn sure that if you hit a major crisis your true friends would be running to your aid...unless you don't tell them about the crisis cos you don't want to bother them.....well that's usually what they shout at me for doing anyway :o

now ive put me foot down and cuz of that im now the one with the attitude problem, done everything for everyone, and what do you get back? ......sweet F.A, now the people i think of the most is my kids and other half, everyone else can go and whistle!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D

Flashy - Treat people as they treat you wether its friends or family,it dont matter. i learnt that lesson years ago n it works,makes ya feel a whole lot better,here endeth the lesson.;) :D

If people are talking about me.....at least they are leaving other people alone for a while, that's what I say.

I have 2 or 3 very very good friends who I know would move heaven and earth for me, an I would do it for them too. These are the only people that would hurt me if I ever found out they had slagged me off rather than come to me.

The rest can shove it for all I care!! They don't like me!! then simple.....don't bloody talk to me...........as the saying goes...BOVVERED

Hmmmmmm I'm always getting shouted at for that off my mates. I would rather listen to their problems than blurt all mine out. Then when they find out something has been wrong and I didn't tell them! I get a telling off lol.

Very good post Flashy! Should of puit it in General Discussion so it wouldn't get lost so easily (IMO)! I certainly have faced the pain, hurt, aggrevation of people letting me down. Whether it be "friends" or family.

Itend to try to always be there for people and kinda would like the same. However, with that bloody stiff upper lip I inherited, very, very rarely does anybody know what is going on in my life or mind. So, bully on me I guess.

The VERY worst is when you do open up with something fairly intense and don't get any kind of call back, check-up, pop in visit. Can be a real heartbreaker eh? I find that being there for others helps me avoid/ignore my own problems.

As I've said many times before, Accyweb has been very good for me to open up. Hmmmm, I wonder if once I meet some of you that'll all change? I'll no longer be that mysterious Yank with the "loverly bum" (Mez's words not mine!):p :D

i have only 2 good friends,the rest are not friends they are just people i know,i would do anything for my mates and i know that if i needed them they would be there for me,you really need to choose your true friends carefully as it can be upsetting when 1 of your SO-called friends goes round slagging you off

It's never nice when you finally find out you can't trust people you classed as friends. I found that out when a good friend of mine decided to start sh**ing my ex wife soonish after I had left her. That kind of stopped me being able to talk to him about what was going on :D

Things became awkward wife another really good friend because his girlfriend and my ex-wife became sort of friends (well his girlfriend thought they were, my ex actually never did like her but became friendly to find out what I was up to). That made me the evil man who left his wife, I am fairly sure she told him to stop talking to me.
